JAKES MYERS First Burnout - the tradition continues
We've been waiting to see young Jake do his first burnout for a while and he got his chace at Dubbo during the NSW Pro Burnouts.
Not only did he do well, he actually beat his old man Gary and first fourth behind three current Burnout Masters. Not a bad effort for his first outing.
NSW PRO BURNOUTS - February 2nd 2013
NSW PRO BURNOUTS. Make sure you don't miss the biggest burnout comp in NSW with over $25,000 up for grabs. It's happening at Morris Park Speedway in Dubbo on February 2nd 2013. Check it out on Facebook.
Clint FIRES UP at NSW Pro Burnouts
It was great to see Clint Ogilvie back on the burnout track after such a long break. There's no blower on the Torana now, Clint has elected to go for naturally aspirated power with the 330 cube Holden pumping out nearly 600hp with big revs.
Unfortunately he had to cut his burnout short at Dubbo with this not so small fire but it couldn't have been too serious because he drove it off the pad afterwards.
T4TUFF Wins NSW Pro Burnouts
How would you like to score $10,000 for a burnout? That's what Matt Power did at Dubbo for the NSW Pro Burnouts when he took on the best from NSW, VIC and QLD. The low and mean Holden tonner needed alot of work after it's fire last weekend at Kandos but Matt hooked in and got it sorted and without a doubt the blown 540 big block was the loudest engine on the day.
EVILXA Finishes Second at Dubbo
NSW Pro Burnouts saw a reverse of the finishing order at Summernats with Peter Grmusa finishing second behind Matt Power. Big blocks seem to be taking all the wins these days.
EVILXA - Revamped and Smokin' Hot
EVILXA was looking a bit sad after hitting a barrier at Summernats and a few burnout fires (we show fire footage from Gazzanats), so Peter Grmusa has given the XA Ute a birthday and covered it in a mix of PPG Vibrance (Key Lime green & white by Auto Passion) and vinyl wrap (by Bling Designs). He invited us out to watch his debut burnout at a small gathering at an undisclosed location. As you can see he's got plenty of grunt thanks to the Powerhouse-built 530ci big block, but still manages to control it beautifully in the tight confines of the space provided.
Performance Car Mania 2011
Performance Car Mania is quickly becoming the premiere modified car event in Victoria, and it's not hard to see why. The organisers set everything up to maximise the fun for the entrants. And if the entrants are happy then the spectators are as well, because they get to see some of the coolest cars around cutting loose. The new quarter mile strip was an interesting addition and although it was a tad bumpy in places it made for some interesting racing.
We've squeezed as much action as we could into a reasonable time frame, but keep your eyes open for planty more vids from this event in the near future.
WONAGO Tries For The Perfect Flame Job
Justen Brown was also a busy man at Motorvation with two cars in the burnouts. One in the Open class, and one in the Blown class. This was his Blown class entry WONAGO which scored third place in the finals after this massive fireball.
And yes I did run away like a little girl every time he pointed the back end at me. :)
Jake Edwards Wins Horsepower Heroes
Yes, horsepower Heroes was back this year and there were some tough cars spinning the rollers to see who had the most horsepower. In the end it was Jake Edwards with his turbocharged 496ci Chevy powered Holden Torana. It runs straight methanol with a Motec Computer running 16 injectors. the car has run 8.0 at 179mph with a smaller compressor wheel on the turbo.
OBNXYS - Old School XY Burnout
I look at this XY sedan and the first words that come to mind is old school. And that's not a bad thing.
In this day and age of massive polished big 'n' ugly hats and sky high blowers it's nice to see something a little old and angry.
ULEGAL Gets Sparky in Dubbo
He also gets bloody close to the camera. :)
Mick didn't have much luck in Dubbo. As soon as he hit the pad the wind died to zero and he was stuck in a cloud of his own making and eventally had to stop to see where he was. This was his 'expression session' burnout later in the afternoon where he did his best to kill it.
IBLOWN Smokes Out Kandos
Andrew Poole came all the way down from north Queensland for Summernats and it seems he stuck around for Kandos and Dubbo as well. He certainly showed why he scored a slot in the masters at Kandos with this great qualifying burnout which put him in third place. It would have been interesting to see how he would have gone in the finals if they'd run them.
Wild 8sec Corolla from Tony Rigoli Performance
Check out this insanely quick little Toyota Corolla. It has run as fast as seven seconds over the quarter, but it's also a tad unstable, which is probably why it ended up on it's roof recently. Hopefully they'll get it back on track soon.
Soo\rry guys, after I uploaded the video it was brought to my attention that I'd screwed up at the end so don't bother watching after the 1:05 mark. Thanks for watching.
ONMETH VK Commodore
This awesome VK Commodore was looking good at Summernats 26 but it didn't get to finish it's smoke show after officials had it shut down - apparently there was fuel pissing everywhere but I couldn't see it.
