510 SR20VE DYNO
This 510 has a a SR20 with the VVL cylinder head, ITB's and using LS1 coil
packs. We wired up and tuned the Haltch E6X. It put down 175WHP and 145WTQ,
with no less than 170HP from 6500-8000 RPM, using a really small turbo header because of packaging constraints. A
full header will no doubt open this thing up. Enjoy.
Datsun 510 SR20DET
Been a wile since my last video. Not long after I took the video I tore the
car apart and have been slowing collecting the parts I needed. It's a fully
built SR20. Hks cams and cam gears, cp forged pistons bored .5, cosworth
head gasket, 810cc injectors, 57trim .60ar T3 turbo, tial WG greddy BOV. Also put an R200 CLSD
in it to handle my projected 400whp.

SR20DET Powered Datsun 510's @ Japanese Classic Car Meet (Torrance, CA) 旧車

Datsun 510 with Honda S2000 engine
Collection of pictures showing how a stock Datsun 510 got his swap from a
03 s2000 donor ;it takes almost the same time chopping the frame for either
other swap, so I felt more confortable swapping a s2k engine & tranny on
I didn't know where to start, but somehow everything started to taking
place in a house garage with some basic tool that my grampa left me.
Overall this could be called as frankestein swap because of the info and
parts used. Ei: Subaru R160 LSD, Nissan Maxima rear calipers with KYB AGX
Mitsubishi Eclipse adj shocks , front brakes and suspention provided by
Datsun 280zx shocks with eibach springs and Nissan 240sx camber plates
with tokiko adj shocks,Datsun 210 brake Booster with 280zx master cilinder, 04 S2000
motor/ tranny with a custom crossmember 50%honda 50% datsun driveshaft.
S2000 Cluster on 510 frame, old recaro front seats with Mitsubishi EvoVIII
rear seat. mix and match for the datsun / honda wireharness and fuse box ,
AEM standalone system.
Griffin Ford Mustang
radiator, with AN radiator hoses.... the list goes for the wiring , same as
the brake system and plumbing. It took me around 7-8 months to finish it ,
working mostly at night and weekdays.
The main issue was to keep the most of the original geometry of the
Datsun...and basically remained the same, only for the tranny tunnel wich
it was extended. custom header and Exhaust, muffler provided by Greddy RSX type S
muffler gave a low tone on the open pipe Exhaust. the car ran around last months of 08'
..still need some work as the interior carpet and sound system but
heeeey... who cares when you can rev 9k rpm's....!

Its been a little over a week since we featured this 510 and I honestly
miss it. This 72 Datsun 510 SR20DET for sale was built with so much style
and care, I can’t think of a better one. Thank you to the owner Raul for
letting us film your car before you sell it.
Filming this 510 was an interesting story as well. As Luke and I were
scouting spots near Raul’s house, we stumbled upon the actual US Nissan
Design center. This is the place where they designed the 370z and the Idx
(the new 510). What luck! The employees there were so awesome to let us
shoot some footage at there loading dock and main entrance. Over the 2
hours we were there, a lot of them came out to see Raul’s car. It was
pretty cool to see how much they all admired the styling of this car. I
guess they we’re paying respect to their elder ;)
What I loved about this SR20 510 was how it was such reliable daily driver.
While it looks like a showcar/racecar Raul comfortably drives it everyday.
He drove me around in it a little and I just couldn’t stop smiling. Being
such a lightweight car, the power is strong and the turbo is consistent. Oh and that sound, the SR20
screams if you want it to but it remains humble at low speeds.
I’ll be honest, this car isn’t for everyone. It’s only for those who
“get it”. It’s for those who know what this car stands for and is
about. Words don’t really explain it, it’s just the feeling you get
when see it and experience it. The next owner of this car is going to be
