The Veloster turbo is fitted with a twin-scroll turbocharged 1.6-liter inline four cylinder engine that produces 201 horsepower (HP) and 195 pound feet of torque. The little four banger is equipped with dual overhead cams (DOHC), variable valve timing (D-CVVT), and direct injection (GDI).
This six-speed manual turbocharged Veloster was fitted with summer-spec Michelin tires. The 0-60 MPH test was performed with Traction Control OFF.
2013 Chevy Suburban 0-60 MPH

The model tested is a Suburban 4WD 1/2 Ton LTZ, equipped with a Vortec 5.3-liter SFI V8 engine and six-speed automatic transmission. 3.42 Rear Axle ratio. Test performed in 2WD with Traction Control Off.
The FlexFuel-capable Vortec 5.3L V8 SFI engine has Active Fuel Management and puts out 320 horsepower (HP) with 335 foot pounds of torque. Or pound feet. You make the call.
2013 Mitsubishi EVO MR 0-60 MPH
MPGomatic.com takes another stab at the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR. We launch a 2013 Lancer EVO MR with the TC-SST twin-clutch automatic transmission. Lets call these runs somewhere in the 4.6-4.7 range.
Could it have been faster? Surely. This was my first two, and *only* two attempts at launching this car. I can't afford to break anything, y'know? :)
The 2013 Lancer Evolution MR is equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter MIVEC inline four-cylinder engine that produces 291 horsepower engine. I love shifting gears the old fashioned way, but the Twin Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission (TC-SST) shifts faster than any manual trans on the planet. Mitsubishi's "Super All-Wheel Control" gets the power to the ground.
Launch control to Major Tom. Sub five seconds? No problem. (this time)
Test performed with traction control off, in S-Sport mode.
Why did the revs hang after the first run?
S-Sport mode is designed for the track. I should have upshifted earlier, but was momentarily distracted by some roadside wild life. Better safe then dead.

Two runs, both with Traction Control OFF. First run is in Drive, with no launch. Second run is in Sport with a launch.

Toyota sells the Prius C as the Prius Hybrid in other parts of the world. But here in America, the Prius nameplate adds extra cache. Or so they say.
