Muscle Cars, Pianos, and One Rare Cougar

You might not expect to find a collection of gleaming muscle cars in the back warehouse of a piano shop, but that's just what you'll find at AZ Piano, owned by Jason Sipe of Phoenix. He is currently restoring an ultra-rare 1969 Mercury Cougar 428 Cobra Jet, 4-speed, drag pak car with a power sunroof. Naturally, we had to meet up with Jason while we were in the area and check out his cars. Visit our website at http://www.cougarpartscatalog.com

The Story Of Cougar 1: The First Mercury Cougar
A while back, we sat down with Jim Pinkerton, the owner of the very first production Mercury Cougar (1967 model year), a.k.a. Cougar 1. We hit the "record" button on our cameras and he let loose with an epic tale of how the car was first sold in Canada, its subsequent life there, and how it eventually got into his hands - an intriguing story! He also goes over some of the unique features of the car, and some of the restoration techniques used. It's a truly beautiful factory show car with more attention to detail than the 'average' Cougar. Special thanks to Jim Pinkerton for his time, and for providing most of the images you see in this video from his own collection of Cougar memorabilia. WCCC Open House 2014 - Cougar Show & Cruise
2014 marked the 25th anniversary of West Coast Classic Cougar, and we celebrated by inviting our customers to bring their Cougars out for a weekend of fun. On Friday, we had a show and open house on our grounds, which ended in an evening cruise to Silverton, OR for a barbecue and sunset photo shoots. Then on Saturday we gathered again and went for a drive through the countryside to a couple wineries near Dundee, OR, crossing the Willamette River on a ferry to get there. All in all, it was a great weekend of camaraderie and Cougars, and this video is only a glimpse of what it was like to be there.

Muscle Car Of The Week Video #37: 1969 Mercury Cougar XR7 Cobra Jet 428
In 1969, you could walk in to your local Mercury dealer and rumble out behind the wheel of a Cougar XR7 Cobra Jet 428 and win street races without attracting the attention of the local fuzz. The '69 XR7 CJ428 is a 335 HP / 440 TQ tire-burner with subtle European design flair. The Brothers Collection is home to many bright and loud Muscle Cars, but this one is an example of speaking softly and carrying a big V8!

2016 Open House - West Coast Classic Cougar
The Open House event we hold every summer has become a lot more than the name suggests. It's really a car show, cruise, barbecue, tour, rally, bonding experience, tech workshop, and social gathering all rolled in to one weekend. This year, we stepped up our video coverage with a drone, and got some sweet aerial shots of the festivities. We also walked around and interviewed several people, while documenting the activities of the weekend. It was fun! If you were unable to attend, this video will at least give you a good idea of what it was like to be there. See you at the next one! Need Cougar parts?
