Muscle Cars, Pianos, and One Rare Cougar

You might not expect to find a collection of gleaming muscle cars in the back warehouse of a piano shop, but that's just what you'll find at AZ Piano, owned by Jason Sipe of Phoenix. He is currently restoring an ultra-rare 1969 Mercury Cougar 428 Cobra Jet, 4-speed, drag pak car with a power sunroof. Naturally, we had to meet up with Jason while we were in the area and check out his cars. Visit our website at http://www.cougarpartscatalog.com

Dash Removal & Restoration - '68 Cougar XR-7
In this video, we show (in great detail) how to remove and disassemble the entire dash and gauge cluster in a 1968 Mercury Cougar XR-7. This also applies very closely to the 1967 XR-7, and much of the info is relevant to standard Cougars as well. Once everything is removed from the car, we strip the plastic dash panels down to their bare bones so they can be sent in to be "rechromed" - stand by for updates on our restoration service, coming soon! Then we show some of the simple, inexpensive things you can do to improve the appearance of your dash, like replacing the blue light filters, installing new gauge overlay decals, polishing the lenses, covering faded woodgrain with our vinyl kit, etc. Finally, you'll see it all back in the car, and what a transformation it is! Most of the parts used in this video can be found here: http://www2.cougarpartscatalog.com/dashparts.html Or, use the part numbers provided in the video to search our site (see upper right corner "Type part number search here...") Also, if anyone out there knows of a vinyl woodgrain pattern that more closely matches the original XR-7 dash pieces, we want to hear about it! Our current pattern looks great but of course isn't "correct" for 67-68.

1967 Mercury Cougar - Dan Gurney Special - SOLD
This '67 Cougar DGS is a very nice example of a solid, un-messed-with, standard first-gen Cougar. Low mileage, no rust, and sporting its original interior. Cars like this are getting harder and harder to find! Car has been sold! eBay auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=181641420851

Cougar Buying Guide Ep.3 - 1968 XR-7 390 "Barn Find"
In this video, Don goes over a 1968 Mercury Cougar XR-7 in brutal detail, looking at originality, searching for rust, inspecting the interior and engine bay, and more. This car exhibits a lot of pros and cons that you might run across when looking at buying a classic Cougar yourself. We felt that the "pros" pretty much speak for themselves; it's a very attractive car, great color combination, good options, good condition, and a big block 390 that runs great. With that in mind, we spent most of the video picking on all the little negatives that you might not have noticed otherwise. This car is currently for sale on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=171762974980&ssPageName= STRK:MESE:IT Need parts for your 67-73 Cougar? Classic Cougar Pickin' with Scott Taylor (Part I)
On our trip to AZ, we paid a visit to Scott Taylor to have a look at his collection of Cougars. Scott is a well-known Cougar enthusiast, is the registrar for 428 Cougars, and has a sizable collection of classic Mercury Cougars. Many of his project cars are for sale (most of the cars shown in this video). If you have questions about these cars, or have any information on a newly discovered 428 Cougar, email Scott at 428cougarguy@cox.net View Part II here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0Bl5MiO7FA Subscribe to our channel for more!
