Buick - History Documentary (1995)
This video is a wonderfully-done documentary, written and produced by Michael Rose, on the history of Buick as presented in 1995 from the History Channel's archive. Here is Michael's description of the video verbatim: "No one would have believed that the tinkering of a plumber would turn into the foundation of the world's largest corporation. But it did. David Dunbar Buick invented a process to adhere porcelain to tubs and other bathroom fixtures. But the Scottish immigrant dreamed of making a mark out of the bathroom, and set to work building a car. By 1900, he enlisted the aid of another inventor, Walter Marr, and they built their first vehicle. Their invention attracted the attention of one of Michigan's wealthiest men, William Crapo Durant, the president of the world's largest buggy-building business. As soon as he drove one of Buick's early creations, Durant realized that the days of the horse and buggy were over. He teamed up with Buick, and the two went on to make history. By the thirties, Buicks were regarded as some of the finest cars ever made. From the first Buicks through the birth of General Motors and into history, this is the compelling story of the partnership that eventually became the basis for the largest company in the world."

Owner: • Harry Fisher In stock form, the 1955 Buick Special could best be described as a "nice" car. It's not drop dead gorgeous like a 1959 Impala, nor does it have the panache of say a 1956 Chrysler 300. You see the '55 Buick Special was a working mans car. It had room enough for the whole family, a decent power-plant thanks to its 264 cubic inch V8, and style that was, well... above average. Harry Fisher or "Uncle Harry" as most people know him, saw the old Buick a bit differently though. He knew that with a few little touches (like a 502 cubic inch big-block, modern suspension, and a new set of wheels) that this old Buick had the potential to become one of the baddest hot-rods around.

1962 Buick Lesabre 2dr Hardtop, with factory 401 Nailhead, 410 Torque, 280hp. This car runs and drives great. It would make someone a nice little cruiser, but will need paint down the road. Interior is in decent shape, and looks nice, but has a little bit of age. Paint is shiny, but not an expensive paint job when down, paint is about 20 years old. The floors are excellant as well as trunk. The body has various small bubbles, in quarters, fenders and doors, but overall pretty minor. Give us a call if interested, it is FOR SALE. This was the day when Travis decided to come and visit me. We ended up removing the engine and dissembling it. We found that the bearings were taken down to the second metal coating, but everything seemed normal for a stock 1960's engine with 85k miles.

This classic 63 Buick Riviera is packing the 445 Wildcat V8 under the hood. This engine is a version of the famed 401 Buick Nailhead engine and it derives it's name from the fact that it puts out 445 Lb/ft of Torque. In this single four barrel configuration, it also has about 325 HP. This car offers a combination of luxury and power in one package. 1957 Devin Special Vintage Race Car All Aluminum Buick V8
1957 Devin Special for sale! The "Gary Special", S-71527 racer purpose built at Devin's El Monte, CA location. Raced in California by Don McQuilken, and later by Donald Shaw in Canada. Has had a complete body off restoration. The engine is a race built Buick 215 alloy V8 engine running 10:1 compression, aluminum radiator, Edelbrock carburetor, Offenhauser intake and valve covers running to an aluminum T-10 4 speed manual transmission with a hydraulic clutch. All inner body panels and firewall are aluminum. Reupholstered aluminum seats, new interior and carpet. Rack and pinion steering, front disc brakes, quick release steering wheel, rear aluminum finned drum brakes, coil over front suspension, and leaf springs in the rear connecting to the highly modified TR chassis. New Dayton wire wheels with knock offs wrapped in BF Goodrich radial performance tires, and turn signals for road use. Thanks for taking a look! The "Gary Special" was race purpose built at the Devin, El Monte, CA location with the assistance of James Gary, Esq. The car was entered in the 1957 Concours d'Elegance and participated in several California races in 1957. The car was featured in several Devin ads. Following the 1957 season, the car was sold to Donald Shaw in Ontario, Canada. Shaw raced the car through several seasons. At some point, the car was re-powered with a race purpose built Buick 215. This is a complete body-off restoration. The engine was completely rebuilt to original specs, but de-tuned from CR 12.7/1 to 10/1. Aluminum radiator, electric fan with aluminum shroud, Edelbrock carb., aluminum Offenhauser intake and valve covers. Hydraulic clutch, aluminum T-10 four-speed transmission. All inner panels and firewall are aluminum. Body was undamaged. Original 72-spoke wires with Pirellis (available) were replaced with new chrome knock-off Daytons and BFG performance tires. Aluminum seats reupholstered, new interior and carpet. Steering column replaced with Ididit, quick-release steering wheel, turn signals for road use. Rack and pinion steering, front disc brakes, rear finned aluminum drum brakes. Coil-over front suspension and leaf spring on highly modified TR chassis. Prior to completion, car was shown at 2011 Detroit Autorama, 4th Place and St. Johns Concours d'Elegance 2011.
