1973 Oldsmobile Omega Project Part 3
Here's the (almost) finished product after about a year of weekend work. I
say almost finished, because any car guy will tell you the project never
ends...there's always something more to be done! Interior was re-done,
almost everything under the hood replaced, trunk freshened up and a TON of
small detail work. Gonna get the A/C working next, but after that..who
knows. Maybe I'll just drive it for a little while. :)
1969 OLDSMOBILE VISTA CRUISER STATION WAGON -- 1 OF A KIND
This Olds wagon is a one of a kind because it's a clone! Olds never made a
Hurst engineered Vista Cruiser. For 1969 Olds Hurst engineered returned
for the model year. The biggest change was the switch from the silver and
black paint of 1968 to a Firefrost Gold on white paint scheme. This would
be the primary paint scheme for Hurst / Olds for years to come. Instead of
the dual air scoops under the front bumper in '68 and other ram air of
'69's the H/O received a functional "mailbox" fiberglass hood scoop with
H/O 455 on each side advertising what was under the hood. A spoiler was
mounted on the trunk and the car sat on unique 15 X 7 chrome SSII rims with
Goodyear F60 X 15 Polyglas tires. Approximately 913 cars werebuilt
including 2 convertibles for Hurst promotional use. This Hurst / Olds has
the 455 engine with correct "D" heads. It also has the Edelbrock intake
and carb carbeurator, blacked out grille, Griffin aluminum radiator with
electric fans, Flowmaster mufflers, a 700R transmission, Flaming River
steering column, and Omega gauges. Everything else on this '69 Olds is
vintage factory components. So, here we have a professionally done clone
of a Hurst Olds station wagon. Thanks very much for viewing this one of a
kind 1969 Oldsmobile Vsta Cruiser wagon.
