Blowing up a D series. Hilarity ensues.
A friend of mine sucked up some water driving in the rain last night. He said it started acting up on him, so he parked it at a gas station. Started it this morning, and had a slight knock in rod number 3. He drove it about two miles before it was just completely toast.... so we put it out of it's misery. Everything went better than expected. Note the chunks of connecting rod and block under the header.

VW Jetta 'Getta' HY35 Engine Blows and Fire Starts!
My friends 2002 Jetta (2.0 auto) that was swapped with a 1.8t/manual swap, custom intake manifold and custom turbo kit with a Holset hy35, ls2 coils, unitronic ECU, digital climate control swap, audi tt front spindles, clutch masters fh400 clutch setup and audi tt awd 6speed tranny (will be converted to awd this year). The stock rods we know were the weak point but it didn't bother us because we have a fully built motor to go into it. During the video we were having issues with controlling the Boost and hitting 2.29-3.3 bars of Boost... and well you'll see the result. The reason for the fire was a nylon tube that melted and covered the turbo area in oil, which burnt the shifter cables and some wires. No big loss, 150 dollars in parts and a crazy drive. Will be back soon with over 550whp ;) The car was fine we were 1/8 of a mile from the house before it caught fire. S13 Top Speed And Engine Failure
testing top speed of 200SX S13 1.8 turbo CA18DET ... blown engine at 240kmh (actual GPS verified speed - rear tires were bigger than stock)... conrod broke in 5th gear at 6400rpm (at top speed and peak power) and was launched trough engine block... on german autobahn, ofcourse... ;) ;) ;) btw... the car was bought for some spare parts, we knew the engine was not that good, but checked all the fluids...after the engine blew it acctualy didnt matter, I really dont like CA engines anyway... right now i have 3 S13's (1 CA i 2 SR) and 1 build S14 SR...
