Pump Gas 440 cid Pontiac engine by Tin Indian Performance for the CF-71 Freedom Bird idel on dyno

This is the 440 cid Pontiac engine we build to Ty Ingle's CF-71 Freedom Bird. The engine is based off a 400 cid pontiac block. Pro-Warrior 4" stroke crank and Pro-Warrior 6.8 long rod were used on the bottom end along with a set of KB forged pistons. A Tin Indian Performance custom ground Comp Cams solid roller was also used with Crower solid roller lifters. The engine is topped off with Kauffman Racing Equipments new North Wind intake manifold and a custom Pro Systems carb. The combo pulled 11" of vac at 850 rpm! It made 590 hp and 550 ft lbs of torque. ALL ON PUMP GAS!!!

PONTIAC Grand Prix (1970 455cid w/rare 4speed, of which only around 500 were made)
A truly overlooked Luxury Performer. One of the top car magazines back in the day tested a 390hp1969 H.O.428cid Grand Prix and reported times of 0-60 in 5.5 and a 13.8 quarter. This 1970 455v8 Grand Prix in the video was rated with 20hp less (370hp for the 1970 455) due to emissions detuning for 1970. The 1970 455 was basically a larger (stroked) 428 with some emissions detuning.

Pump Gas Pontiac engine by Tin Indian Performance 462 cid ideling on the dyno 600 horsepower
This is Brian Frank's 462 cid Pontiac engine ideling on the Dyno before a pull. This 462 makes 600 hp @ 5800 rpm and 596 ft lbs of torque @ 4700 rpm. Engine pulls 13.9 inches of vacuum at 950 rpm. We used the following components: 72cc 325 cfm Edelbrock Aluminum heads, Eagle Rods, Total Seal Rings, Ross dished Pistons, Pro Sport Forged, TIP Gaskets, Professional Product SFI damper, TIP Custom ground Comp Cams Solid Roller camshaft with Crower roller lifters, Harland Sharp rockers, 2" Headers, Victor intake, and Holley HP1000 carb on pump gas! 440 Camshaft drive FAIL!!!
So our rebuilt 440 with only 300 miles (at most) on it, developed a problem when stopping at a traffic light, it wouldn't idle. It had lost 20 deg. of ignition timing, so we twisted the distributor, and it ran well again. Then a short time later it did the same thing again, another 20 deg. of timing lost. We couldn't twist the distributor far enough, so had to pull and adjust the drive gear, to get it firing at the right time, but this time it wouldn't run quite right, and lost top end power. We tried everything a group of us could think of, but in the end pulled off the timing cover, to discover that the single bolt drive with 1 locating pin had suffered a major failure! We hope no valves are bent, but are still determining that, 2 chrome moly pushrods are bent, the timing sprocket is trashed, and we are NOT Amused!!! These were all brand new name brand parts, so why did they fail??? We will be going with a 3 bolt camshaft sprocket retainer this time!





Sehr Performance Machine / Randi's 400 Pontiac
Randi came to us with a 400 Pontiac project for his 1968 Firebird. He didn't want to go crazy on the build but he wanted something that would give him performance that is better than original. With that goal in mind Scott did some custom porting on his heads, upgraded his valve train and went with a Custom COMP cam and lifters and aluminum roller rockers. We maintained his complete original rotating assembly but had to re-balance his crankshaft, it had been poorly balanced sometime in the past and was out by 127 grams on one end and 181 grams on the other. A single plane intake with a 780 Quick Fuel carb got it breathing and the fire is lit with a Flamethrower ignition package. Custom cut and fitted 8mm plug wires are standard equipment here at Sehr. Headman custom coated headers will be added at installation time. The results were a satisfying 543.5 Hp @ 5500rpm and torque reading of 519.8 @ 5400rpm. Corrected to sea level the numbers are 577 Hp and 551 Tq with nearly 400 lb of torque at 3500rpm.

467 Pontiac pump gas engine by Tin Indian Performance 635 horsepower ideling with Pro Systems 1050
This is Larry Wetzel's 467 Pontiac engine built by Tin Indian Performance. The engine uses a set of KRE Aluminum D ports that flow 340 cfm. A TIP custom ground solid roller cam shaft is used with Scorpion rockers and crower solid roller lifters. The valve covers are Tin Indian Performance Billet-TEK pieces that are 3.700 tall to clear the KRE stud guirdle. This video shows the KRE North Wind intake manifold topped with a Pro Systems 1050 Dominator carb. The engine is ideling at 800 rpm here and made 620 hp and 613 ft lbs of torque in this configuration.

This is a 468 cid Pontiac engine we build to Mike Matuszek and his '66 GTO. The engine is based off a 455 cid pontiac block. An Eagle crank and rod combo was used on the bottom end along with a set of KB forged pistons. A Tin Indian Performance custom ground Comp Cams hyd roller was also used with Comp Cams hyd roller lifters. The engine is topped off with Performer RPM cylinder heads and intake. We also used one of our custom 4150 1" spacers with the 950 cfm quick fuel carb. The combo pulled 11" of vac at 850 rpm! It made 558 hp @ 5400 and 583 ft lbs of torque @ 4500 rpm. ALL ON PUMP GAS!!! Watch those brand new Doug's Headers turn blue on the pull.
