The 2011 Range Rover is the ultimate off-road machine, and it's been
recently updated for more luxury and a more functional interior, as well as
improved aesthetics inside and out.
It has a 5.0L V8 producing 375hp and 375 lb-ft. of torque, mated to a
6-speed automatic with "CommandShift" function channeling power through all
The Range Rover buffs its off-road credentials with a two-speed transfer
case of the electronic variety, with an electronic center differential.
There's a dizzying array of off-road specific driver-controlled settings to
play with, like Gradient Release Control and Hill Descent Control, as well
as the advanced "Terrain Response System" with settings for General, Snow,
Mud, Sand, and Rock.
Our test car wore almost $12,000 in optional equipment, pumping its
as-tested price up to $90,735 from a starting MSRP of $78,835.
Those options were a $1700 audio system upgrade, a $4600 "Luxury Interior
Package," a $1000 "climate glass and 4-zone AC" system, $1250 for reclining
rear seats and $2500 for rear-seat DVD entertainment.
