Dodge Ram D250 Cummins
This is my D250 with Cummins 12V diesel engine. Its got an automatic trans, only 2wd but is a real workhorse. At 467000km currently, its great that it is as reliable as it has been for me. Never fails to start or run nearly flawlessly in any condition. Overall the best truck of the time IMO. So here is an intro to the truck when I got it and shortly after getting it through safety inspection. In this vid the smoke screw was the only one touched on the injection pump. http://bossrig.com - Dodge Cummins 12 Valve - Diesel Kleen Additive - 1993 Dodge Ram 250 Cummins turbo Diesel 5.9 Litre 12 Valve 6BT Fueling up the tanks and airing up the tires for a road trip. Years ago they removed most of the sulfur from our diesel, giving us Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel. Well, that sulfur was one of the primary lubricating factors which kept the insides of your injection pump from wearing. Diesel fuel itself is the actual lubricant for almost every internal part in almost every kind of diesel injection pump. So when they removed the sulfur, they increased the potential for premature wear in all pumps, especially the older ones. Now while I am still researching the very best additive to use to get the lubricity (lubricating factor) back into my fuel .. I am currently using Diesel Kleen with Cetane Boost, mostly because it's available in almost every auto parts store and I have not discovered any reason not to use that particular brand. Folks say that the Stanadyne product may be superior, but you almost always have to special order the Stanadyne additive. So I may switch to another additive and it might be Stanadyne, but for now I have no issues with the Diesel Kleen by Power Service. I have measured a 10 to 15 percent increase in fuel efficiency when using the additive, which easily pays for the additive itself. It's the Cetane-Boosting aspect which increases your fuel mileage. Similar to an octane Boost, in a diesel engine, a higher Cetane value means your fuel vapor can start compression-igniting a little bit earlier which results in more fuel being burnt more efficiently, hence more power and better mileage. I believe there are also detergents in this and other additives which helps to keep the fuel system and injectors clean.

1993 Dodge W250 diesel dyno
Here is my 93 W250 on the rollers. It has 4.10 gears, Getrag 5 speed, 6X.016 J L Machine injectors, 60mm GDS upgraded compressor wheel, 16 cm Exhaust housing, 4 inch Diamond Eye Exhaust with muffler hooked to 5 inch stacks, low pressure piston lift pump, M&H #2 fuel pin, stock timing, stock gov spring, 4 full turns left on full power screw, 285-75-17 tires on 3rd gen rims. Last year with the very same tune it had 301 horses but that was with the stock 235-85-16's. The bigger tires cost me 12 horses give or take. No correction factor. We are at sea level and had good air. The correction factor actually lowered horses, not raised them like in bad air or high elevation.
