2012 Nissan GT-R, A Promise Honoured
The introduction of the 2011 Nissan GT-R R35 honours a promise made three years ago by Chief Vehicle Engineer and the car's 'Godfather', Kazutoshi Mizuno. "When the current Nissan GT-R made its debut, I said we would reveal it in its true form within three years," said Mizuno-san, who has been the driving force behind the R35 model. "This promise is now fulfilled." As is the custom at Nissan, Mizuno-san as GT-R's Chief Vehicle Engineer has had total authority over the development of the R35, with all the resources at his disposal to bring his vision of the 21st Century GT-R to reality. ""I had this car in my head," said Mizuno-san -- the performance, the dynamics -- they were all completed in my head. "I wanted to make a supercar that would perform in all conditions and would be driveable by all enthusiasts, not just professional drivers. "The GT-R is for anyone, anytime, anywhere." Mizuno-san joined Nissan in 1972 after graduating in Engineering. He joined Nissan's racing department in 1987 and rose to direct the company's 1994 Le Mans campaign with the R33-series Skyline GT-R. By 2000, he was in charge of the team that developed the Nissan 350Z, the first Infiniti FX, and the last-generation Nissan Skyline, among other cars. Then, at the request of Nissan President & CEO Carlos Ghosn, in 2003 he turned his attention to the GT-R and the R35 launched globally at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show was the result. "The GT-R is unique, as its design and concept come from Japan's culture and spirit. Three years on, the GT-R has continued its unwavering progress along this road and we have been able to incorporate all the things we originally wanted for the GT-R into this new model. "My dream for this car is now realized."

Renault unveils Frendzy Concept
Renault's latest concept car has a dual personality. These days, professional and personal lives are so interwoven that drivers constantly find themselves swapping from one world to the other. The role of FRENDZY is to be a partner that takes the strain out of this busy lifestyle. On the passenger's side, there's no glazing or centre pillar, just one conventional door and one sliding side door which incorporates a 37-inch widescreen display. This is the world of work. The driver's side, complete with side windows, still no centre pillar, but with centre opening doors, represents the world of the family. Ease of loading and ease of entry go without saying in both worlds.

2013 Cadillac CUE New Super Connectivity B-Roll
CADILLAC'S NEW SUPER CONNECTIVITY! Cadillac Introduces CUE: New, Easy-to-Use Industry-First Control and Command Technologies for Information & Entertainment With the introduction of CUE - Cadillac User Experience - Cadillac is taking the lead in "user friendly" automotive technology. CUE merges intuitive design with industry-first controls and commands for information and entertainment data. Beginning in 2012 in the Cadillac XTS, ATS, and SRX crossover, CUE will be unique to each consumer as it pairs data from up to 10 Bluetooth-enabled mobile devices, USBs, SD cards, and MP3 players. CUE: Safe, Simple and Sophisticated Information Integration for Simple to Super Users! CUE will appeal to both tech-savvy drivers and tech-novices alike with safe, connected driving by way of a system which utilizes natural voice recognition, fewer buttons, larger icons, an uncluttered screen layout, greater options for customization, and more. For example, most of today's luxury cars have approximately 20 buttons controlling the radio and entertainment functions: CUE reduces that number to just 4 buttons! CUE allows drivers to safely store such mobile devices as a smart phone or iPod - and channel the information on those devices, along with navigation tools, weather maps with Doppler radar, AM/FM radio, instant messages, and emails through a central portal in the vehicle - allowing the driver to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. 8 Inch LCD Screen: Elegant In-Vehicle Hub Resembles Smart Phone The "heart" of CUE is the 8-inch LCD touch screen which is seamlessly integrated into the top of the central instrument panel and a motorized, fully capacitive faceplate at the bottom which conceals a 1.8L storage area. The LCD screen displays CUE's homepage - which resembles a smart phone screen by using large, easy-to-target icons to execute commands. CUE's LCD screen features the driver's five most frequently used functions stored along the top of the screen. Along the bottom, users can select up to 60 favorites from music to points of interest, addresses, weather/direction maps, phone numbers and system commands. The steering wheel contains a five-way controller on the right side to navigate the cluster display, a volume control and buttons to cycle through favorites. The five-way controller on the left side manages cruise control functions, voice recognition, and phone hang-up. CUE's customization and control features are further enhanced through OnStar's suite of safety, security, and connectivity services. CUE Auto Industry Firsts The longer a driver owns their Cadillac with CUE, the more the CUE will do for the driver as the system is able to be updated - which is an industry first. Among the additional CUE auto industry firsts include: ● Proximity Sensing: As users hand approaches the LCD screen, command icons (which can be arranged and customized by the user) appear. ● Haptic Feedback: Faceplate buttons "pulse" when pressed to acknowledge drivers commands - keeps driver's eyes on the road. ● Natural Speech Recognition: Drivers can speak "logically" with fewer specific commands to recall stored media or input navigation destinations. Text-to-Speech feature allows drivers to receive text messages by system voice and to send recorded text messages in return. ● Multi-Touch Hand Gestures: Interactive motions - tap, flick, swipe, spread - popularized by smart phones and tablets allow tasks on the LCD screen, such as scrolling lists, zooming maps, and searching favorites easily accomplished. ● 12.3 Inch LCD Reconfigurable Gauge (on select models): Offers four selectable displays - simple, enhanced, balanced, and performance - that can mix traditional vehicle data (speedometer, fuel gauge) with navigation, entertainment, and 3D vehicle image. ● Linux Operating System: Efficient hardware setup offers 3.5 times more processing power that current infotainment systems.

2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible Exterior Scenes
2012 Camaro ZL1 Features Technically Advanced 6.2L Supercharged V-8 CHICAGO -- The all-new, 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is powered by the LSA 6.2L supercharged V-8 engine that produces an estimated 550 horsepower (410 kW) and 550 lb.-ft. of torque (745 Nm). The LSA is the most powerful engine ever offered in a Camaro, eclipsing even the original ZL1 engine from 1969 that inspired the name of the new, maximum-performance model. Built on GM's legendary small-block V-8 architecture, it features an intercooled Supercharger system, premium heat-resistant aluminum cylinder heads and other details designed to ensure its exceptional performance is delivered with smoothness and refinement. "The LSA is the ultimate engine for the ultimate Camaro," said John Rydzewski, assistant chief engineer for small-block engines. "It has a broad power band that matches the Camaro ZL1's performance capabilities at every notch on the tachometer." Components and design elements that contribute to the LSA's performance include: ■Balanced, lightweight reciprocating assembly ■High-strength hypereutectic pistons ■Sixth-generation Eaton Supercharger with four-lobe rotors ■Center-feed fuel system ■Piston oil squirters. A Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual transmission is matched with the LSA. It uses a 240-mm dual-mass flywheel matched with a 240-mm twin-disc clutch system to provide excellent shift smoothness. Compared to the Cadillac application, the LSA used in the Camaro features the following unique components and details: ■Black Intercooler housing with unique heat exchanger and plumbing to accommodate the Camaro engine compartment ■Cast stainless steel Exhaust manifolds for enhanced thermal management ■Camaro-specific oil pan ■Revised accessory drive with unique alternator and air conditioning compressor ■Idler pulley in place of the conventional power steering pump pulley, because of the use of electric power steering ■Special engine cover in red. Supercharged power delivery The LSA engine's sixth-generation Eaton Supercharger, with high-helix, four-lobe rotors, enables a broad range of power through the rpm band, giving the engine great low-end torque and excellent horsepower at higher rpm. "The design of the Supercharger's rotating internal components extends its effective range, giving the engine a wide, flat power band that is usable at all rpm levels," said Rydzewski, assistant chief engineer. "Whether at low speeds or on the highway, the feeling of power is instant, strong and sustained." Heavy-duty and lightweight reciprocating components support the engine's high-rpm, supercharged performance. The parts are housed in an aluminum cylinder block that features nodular iron, six-bolt main caps. Cast iron cylinder liners -- measuring 4.06 inches (103.25 mm) in bore diameter -- are inserted in the aluminum block and they are finish-bored and honed with a deck plate installed. The deck plate simulates the pressure and minute dimensional variances applied to the block when the cylinder heads are installed, ensuring a higher degree of accuracy that promotes maximum cylinder head sealing, piston ring fit and overall engine performance. Nestled inside the LSA's deep-skirted cylinder block is a forged steel crankshaft that delivers a 3.62-inch (92 mm) stroke. It features an eight-bolt flange -- the outer face of the crankshaft on which the flywheel is mounted -- that provides enhanced clamping strength. Other non-supercharged GM 6.2L engines have a six-bolt flange. A torsional damper mounted to the front of the crankshaft features a keyway and friction washer, which is designed to support the engine's high loads. Connected to the crankshaft is a set of lightweight powder-metal connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons, which, when combined with the cylinder heads, delivers a 9.1:1 compression ratio. The alloy of the pistons was selected for its strength and heat resistance properties, while the cast design provides inherent quieting advantages over other piston materials, such as forged aluminum. Exceptional airflow High-flow cylinder heads based on GM's proven L92 design channel incoming air into the combustion chambers. They are made with a premium A356T6 alloy that offers excellent heat resistance, particularly in the bridge area of the cylinder head, between the intake and Exhaust valves. Additionally, each head is manufactured with a roto-casting method. Also known as spin casting, the roto-casting process involves pouring the molten alloy into a rotating mold, for a more even distribution of the material that virtually eliminates porosity -- air bubbles or pockets trapped in the casting -- for a stronger finished product.
