2015 Audi A7 Sportback h-tron
Looking virtually identical as the conventional-powered model, the A7
h-tron quattro concept is actually a fuel cell hydrogen vehicle with a
plug-in hybrid setup. The complex system consists of a fuel cell stack
installed under the hood where there are 300 individual cells featuring a
polymer membrane which has a platinum-based catalyst on both sides. These
fuel cells operate in the 230 to 360 voltage range and the main auxiliary
assemblies feature a turbocharger that
forces the air into the cells, a recirculation fan returning unused
hydrogen into the anode, along with a coolant pump.
When used in fuel cell mode, the Audi A7 h-tron quattro concept needs
around 1 kg (2.2 lbs) of hydrogen for each 62 miles (100 km) which
represents the equivalent of 3.7 liters (one gallon) / 100 km. The four
hydrogen tanks grant the vehicle with a range of more than 310.7 miles (500
km) and once depleted, a full refill takes approximately three minutes.
The fuel cell system works with an 8.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack sourced
from the A3 Sportback e-tron installed beneath the trunk and granting a
31.1 miles (50 km) electric range. It can be recharged either by
recuperation or using a power socket which takes two hours (360 volts) or
four hours (230 volts).
There are also two front & rear electric motors driving both axles
independently, with each providing a maximum output of 85 kW (114 kW if the
voltage is temporarily raised) and 199 lb-ft (270 Nm) of torque. Due to the
added hardware, the concept weighs a hefty 1,950 kg (4,299 lbs) but the 228
bhp (170 kW) 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) combined output rockets the vehicle to 62
mph (100 km/h) in 7.9 seconds before hitting a top speed of 111.8 mph (180

2014 Audi A7 TDI Test Drive & Diesel Car Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/audi/a7/2014/?id=32972 New for 2014 is a diesel
powered A7. The Audi A7 is a big, beautiful, spacious sports sedan with an
ACE in the hole; that being the wonderful fuel economy. The TDI power plant
can manage 24 MPG in the city and 38 MPG on the highway. That might not
sound like a lot, but consider this is a full-sized luxury car getting the
same fuel economy as a tiny compact. The price for the A7 TDI is $66,900.
The Audi A7 is drop dead gorgeous thanks to the sleek hatchback design. But
the car is not just good to look at; the A7 excels in virtually every other
aspect. Under the hood is a 3.0 liter turbocharged V-6 diesel engine that makes 240 horsepower and 428
lb-ft. of torque. Believe it or not the TDI model only weighs 66 lbs. more
than the regular gas model.
Inside the Audi A7 the interior is beautiful. The most important thing
about a luxury car's interior is the ability to make the owner feel
important like they have arrived; and the A7 does just that. Driving the
diesel is different. It takes a few seconds for the turbo to build power. The driving experience is
pure bliss. This is a proper sports sedan with an ACE in the hole. That
would be the great fuel economy.

The spacious five-door coupe is now even more powerful and attractive --
thanks to new engine configurations, new transmissions, new headlights,
taillights and new infotainment systems.
The most striking changes are to the Singleframe grille, bumpers, tailpipes
and headlights. LED technology is now standard; upon request, Audi can
supply Matrix LED headlights, which light the road optimally without
causing glare for other road users. Combined with the Matrix LED
headlights, dynamic turn signals are also installed at the front; they come
standard at the rear.
The body of the new Audi S7 Sportback consists primarily of aluminum and
high‑tech steel grades. It is extraordinarily lightweight and designed
for maximum comfort in terms of noise. The cargo space under the long,
electrically driven trunk lid has a base capacity of 535 liters
(18.9 cu ft). When the rear seat backs are folded down it grows to
1,390 liters (49.1 cu ft).
The sporty style of the exterior is echoed in the car's interior. The
dominant element is the horizontal line surrounding the driver and
passenger. The dashboard gives an impression of lightness and elegance. The
new interior materials, including the aluminum/Beaufort walnut inlay and
Valcona leather, are impressive for their finish. The color palette has
been redesigned, offering five color options even for the seats.
The new Audi S7 Sportback is confident and relaxed to drive. The front
seats can be optionally equipped with ventilation and massage functions,
and there are four seat versions to choose from. The MMI radio operating
system comes standard; it can be supplemented as an option with a
