Cadillac launches CTS-V Black Diamond Edition
DETROIT -- Cadillac will offer this spring a Black Diamond Edition of the
high-performance CTS-V that comes with a host of popular performance
options and an exclusive tri-coat paint, also called "Black Diamond."
The Black Diamond Edition, available in the CTS-V Sedan, Coupe and Wagon
models, will be the first use by an automaker of JDSU's proprietary
SpectraFlair pigment in North America. JDSU, a Milipitas, Calif.,-based
optical technology firm, specializes in cutting-edge color solutions for a
wide range of markets. Its pigments are used in certain DuPont paints
supplied to Cadillac.
In the CTS-V Black Diamond, a dark tri-coat paint is embedded with
SpectraFlair Bright Silver pigment. While other luxury makers offer
metallic paints, Black Diamond is created through a meticulous process that
gives the paint added dimension.
Instead of simply containing small bits of metal, the SpectraFlair pigment
in Black Diamond uses aluminum flakes encapsulated in a glass-like
substance called magnesium fluoride. The result is a paint that has a
diamond-like sparkle as light hits the surface from different angles.
"The CTS-V Black Diamond Edition is like a finely crafted, tailored
tuxedo," said Michelle Killen, Cadillac exterior paint designer. "The base
color may be a simple black, but the details and richness of the material
set it apart."
Black Diamond helps Cadillac meet growing demand by luxury buyers for
paints that are set apart not just by their color but also by their special
"Auto makers and consumers are looking to differentiate the color black, an
ubiquitous color in automotive," said John Book, Custom Color Solutions
product manager at JDSU. "Black Diamond offers the discerning Cadillac
customer a special option color that stands out and remains true to their
sense of luxury and style."
In addition to the unique paint, CTS-V Black Diamond comes standard with
content that complements its look and feel. The special edition has:
Satin Graphite 19-inch wheels with yellow Brembo brake calipers. These
six-piston front, four-piston back brake calipers provide exceptional
Recaro seats that feature 14 adjustable elements, French-stitched leather
and microfiber suede inserts in the center sections of the cushions and
Midnight Sapele wood trim known for its durability and distinctive grain.
"We've already established V-Series as a serious sub-brand for Cadillac,"
said Rich Pinto, Cadillac creative designer. "Black Diamond further
establishes V-Series in the market as a performance-minded line of vehicles
with a luxury twist."
The CTS-V Black Diamond comes with a suggested retail price, including
destination charges, of $69,190 for the manual or $70,490 for the
automatic, a $4,850 premium over the CTS-V base price. The CTS-V Black
Diamond will be available at U.S. dealerships in March.
The CTS-V Black Diamond Edition joins Cadillac's award-winning V-Series
line of performance luxury vehicles. The CTS-V Sedan, Coupe and Wagon all
feature a supercharged 6.2L V8 engine with 556-horspower, Magnetic Ride
Control suspension that reads and reacts to the road 1,000 times a second
and Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tire.

Cadillac CTS-V World Challenge Rips Up Detroit GP - /SHAKEDOWN
Leo Parente and ShakeDown visit the Cadillac Racing SCCA World Challenge
team as they take on the Detroit GP. CTS-V did its own work on the Belle
Isle track ripping up the world-class competition [not the track, like
IndyCar did] winning both WC races. As the event was held in the backyard
of GM Headquarters, a few Cadillac engineers / execs [and the Pratt &
Miller team] provided us the opportunity to explore exactly how Cadillac
bridges the connection between racecar and road car - Technology, Process,
and Passion make the trip.
And thanks, Cadillac Racing video team, for the on-board footage.
1966 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham
Visit http://www.leftcoastclassics.com/1966-cadillac/ to see this lovely
old 1966 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham that has been in California it's
entire life as evidenced by the original black and gold California plates.
It was recently resprayed in order to freshen it up and the original vinyl
top was removed at that time. The car is in well-cared for condition and
shows barely over 100K original miles. The interior is in beautiful
condition and the leather is still soft and supple. The wood on the doors
is in great shape but could use a little oiling. The body and floors are
rock-solid. The car looks to have been stored properly. This is the perfect
car for someone who appreciates original, low mileage vintage Cadillacs.
The D3 Battle Wagon a 700HP CTS-V Station Wagon
We fell in love with this wagon the first time is set tires in our
workshop. On top of it being a wagon, it's a 6 speed manual trans!
In the D3 Battle Wagon, even trips to the grocery store are all the more
fun with 715 HP and 725 ft-lb's of Torque!
The build concept for the D3 Battle Wagon was to completely upgrade all OEM
components with the most aggressive bolt on parts possible. The result is
an ultra fun, track worthy station wagon!
Signal Hill, CA -- June 18th 2011, A 700+ Wheel horsepower CTS-V Station
Wagon dubbed "The Battle Wagon" has been completed for delivery to its
eagerly awaiting driver.
"CTS-V wagons are a still a rarity, on top of that finding a white 6 speed
manual was like trying to locate Atlantis!" Says John B. the owner of the
Battle Wagon. "The second I heard that Cadillac was going to launch the
CTS-V in wagon form I knew it would be my next car, I have always loved
wagons, from the E39 5 series to the Audi S4 Wagon now to the Cadillac
CTS-V Wagon. With less than 500 miles on the clock the wagon was booked
for an appointment at the D3 Motorsport Laboratory which is D3's in house
The tuning concept of The D3 Battle Wagon is to encompass manageable
amounts of horsepower, allowing for a
balanced, but track worthy grocery getter. To complete the Wagon the
Motorsport Laboratory has broken the build into 3 categories; Performance,
Efficiency & Chassis Tuning.
A wide range of Performance Tuning Equipment manufactured by D3 has been
utilized to upgrade the performance characteristics of the Cadillac CTS-V's
LSA power plant. The Pulley System has been upgraded via the D3 Stage 3
Performance Pulley Kit allowing for a mind numbing 17 PSI of Boost out of the factory Eaton 1.9L Blower
that has been Blueprinted to D3's specifications. To feed this Boost monster the D3 Air Intake, D3 Billet
Throttle Body and D3 Supercharger Lid
Spacer have been installed. Exhaust
work has been provided by the Kooks Long Tube Headers, Kooks X-Pipe with
Race Catalytic Converts and the CORSA touring mufflers. These upgrades
have yielded a raw horsepower gain of 244 wheel
To keep the D3 Battle Wagon ready for action all of its cooling has been
upgraded via the gamut of D3|ULTRACOOLERS. The ULTRACOOLER systems include
the D3 Front Mount Heat Exchanger (Intercooler) the D3 Competition Oil
Cooler, and the D3 Competition Radiator. The chassis has been dialed in
via the D3 suspension suite including: The D3 Competition Lowering
Springs, the D3 Competition Sway Bar Kit, D3 Chassis Bracing, D3 Stainless
Steel Brake Lines and Alcon 2pc Competition Rotors.
"When everything is said and done, I have a complete competition ready
CTS-V, and the best part is that it's a wagon!"
