2013 Toyota Prius Plug-in Test Drive & Hybrid Car Video Review
A recent study shows that the average American commutes 25 minutes each day to work every day so the need for fuel efficient cars like the 2013 Toyota Prius Plug-in hybrid is growing. Last year Toyota released the Prius Plug-in which took the fuel savings game to a whole new level. The Plug-in differs from the regular Prius family in that it is outfitted with a larger battery pack (4.4 kWh vs 1.4 kWh) which allows for more electric only operation. The result is a mice increase in fuel economy over the already fuel efficient Prius family. The 2013 Toyota Prius Plug-in has a base price of $32,000, but there are tax credits available. http://www.autobytel.com/toyota/prius-plug-in/2013/?id=32972 The Prius is the most popular 5-door hatchback in the U.S. selling over 230k units annually. The Prius Plug-in looks almost exactly like the regular Prius except for the green carpool lane stickers and the extra fuel door which houses the electricity plugin port. You can get up to 13 miles or pure electric driving on a single charge. There is also unique badging on the Prius Plug-in. And that's about all that separates the 2 cars on the outside. The 2013 Toyota Prius Plug-in is powered by the same Hybrid Synergy Drive 1.8 liter 4-cylinder engine that is mated to a CVT transmission and is helped by 2 electric motors and the aforementioned 4.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Fuel economy is EPA rated at 95 MPGe and 50 MPG combined for just hybrid mode. If you have a very short commute you could theoretically use the Prius Plug-in as an electric car. 2014 Toyota Corolla S First Drive & Walkaround Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/toyota/corolla/2014/?id=32972 The first generation Toyota Corolla appeared way back in 1966 and now we get the first glimpse and test drive in the new 11th generation Corolla which has been totally redesigned from the ground up. Prices range from $16,800 for the base L model all the way up to $21,300 for the S Plus model. The top of the line Toyota Corolla S features a unique front fascia consisting of an aggressive front grille, honeycomb insert, piano black insert, LED lights, and integrated fog lights. The Corolla S seen here sports the 17-inch alloy wheels. The suspension on the 2014 Toyota Corolla has been reworked and now features a modified Torsion Beam Suspension that helps the car handle and stick to the road better. Under the hood is an all new engine that is smooth and efficient. The Corolla S sports a 1.8 liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 132 horsepower and 128 lb-ft. of torque. The transmission choices are a CVT or a 6-speed manual. Fuel economy checks in at 29 MPG in the city and 37 MPG on the highway. There is an ECO model which ups the MPG's by a few. That car is powered by a variation on the 1.8 liter which increases horsepower to 140. The first thing you will notice about the interior of the 2014 Toyota Corolla S is the nicely bolstered seats. The steering wheel has been upgraded with paddle shifters and audio controls. The 6.1-inch touch screen features a standard back-up camera and an optional Etune audio system and navigation. The Corolla has come along way since its introduction way back in the mid-60's. This car continues to be a huge success for Toyota as it competes in a very tough compact segment but continues to be a leader. The 2014 Toyota Corolla's new design, electronics, and improved fuel economy are key factors in its redesign. Will it be enough to increase sales figures? 2013 Toyota Camry V-6 Test Drive & Car Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/toyota/camry/2013/?id=32972 Last year the 7th generation Toyota Camry was released with a new exterior design and interior upgrades. For the 2013 model year the Camry is still at the top of the list in the mid-sized sedan category which is maybe the most competitive segment out there. The 2013 Toyota Camry has a lot of thing going for it including a stylish exterior, refined interior, powerful V-6 engine, top safety scores, and the reliability that goes along with the Toyota Brand. The Camry has a base price of $22,235. Toyota designed the Camry to appeal to a broad range of automotive buyers. Toyota has done a good job updating the Camry for 2013. Up front the bumper styling is aggressive compared to other cars in this segment, the bright Clearwater Blue Metallic Paint on the car tested here is very eye catching, and the fog lights are integrated nicely and compliment the headlights. Moving around the side of the Camry; the base wheels are nice and you can upgrade to larger more attractive rims and the shoulder line is evident but not too overdone. All of the lines on the 2013 Toyota Camry are subtle, they make the car look handsome enough but not too over the top that buyers will not be put off. The Camry comes with 2 engine options. The first is a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 178 horsepower and 170 lb-ft. of torque with fuel economy ratings of 25 MPG in the city and 35 MPG on the highway. The larger 3.5 liter engine makes 268 horsepower and 248 lb-ft. of torque and gets 21 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway. Both engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Toyota may have played is a bit safe on the outside, but the interior space is where this sedan really shines. The materials look premium, the navigation screen is a nice size at 6.1 inches, the gauges are easy to read, the seats are comfortable, and there are controls mounted on the steering wheel. The new Camry also has plenty of room in the back seat for the passengers and the trunk is surprisingly larger for a mid-sized sedan. Behind the wheel the V-6 engine has plenty of pull. Handling is middle of the road, not too sporty yet not too soft. The brakes are well mannered and the steering provides nice feedback. Overall the Camry is a good all-around sedan. 2012 Volvo XC70 Station Wagon Test Drive & Car Review
http://www.autobytel.com/volvo/xc70/2012/?id=32972 Volvo has been making station wagons for decades. The 2012 Volvo XC70 is the latest in a great line-up of safe vehicles. The XC stands for cross-country meaning this station wagon has all-wheel drive and can go practically anywhere and do anything. The great thing about the 2012 Volvo XC70 is that from the rear seats forward it is essentially a sedan offering you tons of comfort and luxury. But the wagon style rear gives you tons of cargo room. In fact the XC70 offers 72 cubic feet of cargo room. The base price for the 2012 Volvo XC70 is $32,950 with the T6 Platinum AWD model going for $43,650. There are 2 different engines choices available on the 2012 Volvo XC70. The first is a 3.2 liter inline 6-cylinder that produces 240 horsepower and 236 lb-ft. of torque. Fuel economy for this engine is 19 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway. The other engine choice is a more powerful turbocharged 3.0 liter 6-cylinder that makes 300 horsepower and 325 lb-ft. of torque. Fuel economy is a bit lower at 17 MPG in the city and 23 MPG on the highway. But the increase in horsepower is well worth it. When it comes to safety the XC70 is packed with the latest and greatest technology from Volvo. There are a myriad of airbags on the XC70 including side impact airbags for the driver and front passenger as well as inflatable curtain airbags for the rear occupants. A Whiplash Protection System is built into the seats as are seatbelt pre-tensioners. The 2012 Volvo XC70 comes equipped with ABS and an Emergency Brake Assist System. The Dynamic Stability Control and Traction Control Systems work to keep the XC70 safely planted. When off-roading the Hill Descent Control system helps to keep the vehicle under control. The XC70 feature high ground clearance for a station wagon and most models come standard with AWD although you can opt for the FWD only system too.
