Karmann Ghia - Convertible Top Install - Part 1 - Header Bow and Frame Adjustments
The first steps of installing the new convertible top. Installing a new wood header bow, adjusting the frame header junction, adjusting the rear glass and installing the webbing straps.

Thirdgen f-body ASC convertible top replacement part 1 of 2
Replacing the top on my 1991 Trans Am ASC convertible. The steps I took
should be virtually the same for all ASC convertible third-gen f-bodies.
Feel free to ask questions/post comments. :) The remaining videos for this
swap will be up soon.
-New top (duh)
-New rear bow seal
-Weldwood contact cement
-Kerosene/Acetone/Goof-off to remove the old glue
-and tools such as a putty knife, drill with different sized bits, dremel
tool; whatever you may need to remove the old top.

Another test run...at 12psi. both of the little runs in the vid are
slightly uphill with some short shifts (I'm no racer) but you get the
picture. speedo marks are at the 20,40,60,80,100mph.

Ghia commercial. I am surprised how honest it is about the fact that it was
called: the slowest sportscar in the world! In this commercial VW makes fun
about the fact that the car cannot drive through a paper wall!

House of Ghia in Salem, Or specializes in the restorations of Volkswagen
Karmann Ghias. This 1969 1/2 Karmann Ghia is one of our recent projects.
Its the type of KG I would build for myself, so its going to be hard to
ship it out...lol.

VW Karmann Ghia Type 14 was built by Karmann in Osnabrück. The VW
Karmann-Ghia was offered as a coupe and convertible. Total of 443,466 cars
- 362,585 coupes and 80,881 convertibles Volkswagen sold between 1955 and
1974. The technology of the Karmann-Ghia Type 14 was almost identical
except for a few details with the VW Käfer.
Der VW Karmann-Ghia Typ 14 wurde bei Karmann in Osnabrück gebaut. Der VW
Karmann-Ghia wurde als Coupé und Cabriolet angeboten. Insgesamt 443.466
