Soon, a new video, with K&N filter. :D Sorry for the low quality video. Mobile phone... :S Just bought this air filter on ebay. It was a clean straight fit. Without any changes. Just removed all the air box, tubes, and hot air admission valve and tube. This engine is from a mk2 106, bosh injection system. Single point injection. I don't notice any visible power improvments, but it makes lot of sporty intake noise! :D I will upload another video showing the driving and sound from the interior.

Peugeot 106 Engine Service
Servicing a 2002 Peugeot 106 1.1 Independence with a TU1JP Injected engine. The car is one i am repairing as it was bought damaged, it has 43,000 miles and although there is an entry in the service history book at 15 and 30,000 miles the last service was in 2007 so the car has done very little since then it needed a service. The things done in this video are: - Engine oil flushed, then then drained, with a new oil filter fitted - Gearbox oil filled after the oil had drained out when the drivehshaft was removed - Air filter replaced - Spark plugs replaced with NGK spark plugs the same as the ones which were removed - Fuel filter replaced I also did the pollen filter, but thats a tricky job and not worth the effort, i will make a video separately about the pollen filter. Apart from the pollen filter the 106 is an easy car to service, parts are cheap and it seems to be a bit livelier after getting the old oil flushed out. The timing belt will also be changed soon, its getting close to the mileage for a timing belt and the car is still on its original belt which is 10 years old.

During the first (S1) from September 1991 to April 1996 and the second (S2) from May 1996 to July 2003 Here, the 106 S1 based on the Citroën AX introduced a few years earlier, during the 106 S2 is technically almost identical to the Citroën Saxo. Specifically, the vehicles of the first series were relatively easy, so that even comparatively good performance could be achieved with the smaller engines. Especially the XSi model with the 1.4-liter engine (94 hp) was at a maximum speed of 200 km / h and acceleration from 0-100 km / h in under ten seconds for a small car very quickly. Especially the Peugeot 106 GTI S16 with the 1.6 liter engine was very fast. Therefore, they were very popular in rally racing use.

Peugeot 106 Timing Belt Replacement
Changing the timing belt on a 2002 Peugeot 106 1.1 independence with the TU1J5 fuel injected engine. This car has still less than 50,000 miles but i think that is close to the recommended interval, and there is also the fact that the timing belt itself is original and about 12 years old so it is a good time to change it. This is a fairly easy timing belt to change helped by the fact the car has a spring loaded tensioner so there is no need to guess what tension the belt should be at, and no worries that you can't find the mysterious SEEM measuring tool that is mentioned in the haynes manual. (If it had a manual tensioner you just have to tension the belt by hand which takes a bit of experience but the SEEM machine is not needed) In addition to that this engine is a simple single camshaft 8v engine, so less things to mark the position of. As for marking the position of the crank and camshaft before removing the belt, i chose just to mark these parts with a marker instead of removing the starter and locking the crankshaft via the flywheel, i did the locking the starter via flywheel in other videos and got plenty of comments asking if it was necessary, so here i just marked the positions instead. Initially i had the intention of using the Haynes manual and quoting the torque for the different nuts and bolts but after the water pump bolt broke i decided not to bother and just tighten the bolts up by feel. I think my draper 3/8 torque wrench was out of calibration which caused it to snap the bolt, so if you have a torque wrench which is correctly calibrated then take a look in the Haynes manual. Take care when changing the timing belt, its a job which must be down correctly if done wrong it has the potential to ruin the engine so if in any doubt take the car to a mechanic to change the belt instead.
