This limited edition model will be imported by Audi with only a few hundred models being sold here in the U.S. per year. The amount of performance that comes from this car is nothing short of amazing considering the starting price is only $56,850. For under $60k you get a great little sports car that can run from 0-60 MPH in 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 174 MPH.
The 2012 Audi TT RS is all about performance. The engine is a high-powered turbocharged 2.5 liter 5-cylinder that cranks out an amazing 360 horsepower and 343 lb-ft. of torque. The only transmission offered is a 6-speed manual. More power means more stress on the engine components so Audi engineers reinforced the engine internals to handle the additional stress of a turbocharger. Audi made a big name for itself with the Quattro all wheel drive system. The TT RS employs a sophisticated Quattro AWD system with an advanced dynamic torque vectoring technology that yields great handling in all types of weather. The suspension is made of Magnetic Ride control shocks that change with the road conditions. There are large brakes and lightweight rims to help slow the car. Weight has been kept down thanks to Audi's Space Frame technology.
The Audi TT is a very unique looking car and the TT RS takes this one step further. Up front the 2012 Audi TT RS has a larger air inlet area located in the front bumper with a gloss-black grille. Out back a really trick rear diffuser helps move trapped air out from under the car while a great sounding dual Exhaust finishes the look. The rear wing is fixed and looks very aggressive adding much needed down force at high speeds. There are a few TT RS badges located inside and out that designate this little sports car as something special. Finally the LED running lights are maybe one of the most recognizable features on an Audi.
The 2012 Audi TT RS packs some serious power for such a low base price. If you are in the market for a sports car that combines luxury and performance than the TT RS is a great bet.
