1970 AMC Hornet SST
My 1970 AMC Hornet SST. Only paid $700. It has had a few upgrades done to
it by previous owners.
The engine is now a 232 from a 78 Concord. It had a Carter BBD 2 BBL from a
258. The transmission is now a Torque-Command from a 72 Gremlin. The front
disk brakes and rear end are from a 80 Spirit. The 100MPH speedo gauge is
from a Gremlin and the Fuel Economy Meter is from a 75/77 Hornet/Gremlin.
It may not be a matching number car anymore but its still a great ride and
still all AMC.

when I was a baby lol! Enjoy, (We are getting ready to build me a 69
Javelin drag car!!) My dad restores these cars, check out his website

Wheel standing 1970 AMX - Eliminations and sparks flying
Round 1 of eliminations. Car was launched at a low 6200 RPM. Still a 1.38
60' time. Nothing more consistant than Advanced Clutches (see the web
site). Veered off to the left too much. Let off the gas for the 1st time
ever and came down with a big thunk. Shut the engine off just to make sure
no oil pan damage (there was none). Sparks are crossmember hitting
concrete. Slight bevel on leading edge of oil pan. If you ever want a
killer engine, go to MACH Development (see their web page). NHRA Best
Appearing @ 2006 Pacific SportsNationals (Fontana, CA). Now going to the
shop for a back-half and 4-link to tame it down some. Hope you enjoyed the
Jimi Day's 1969 AMC AMX
I was lucky enough to write the feature on Jimi Day's 1969 AMC AMX for
Popular Hot Rodding magazine, and the car was just a few spots over from
mine at the 2012 Detroit AutoRama. So I created this video feature on the
car to let Jimi tell you about it firsthand!
