2018 Volvo XC60 Crash Testing
The new XC60, one of the safest cars ever made, is fully-loaded with new technology. Steer Assist has been added to the ground-breaking City Safety system. A new safety system called Oncoming Lane Mitigation uses steer assist to help mitigate head-on collisions, while Volvo’s Blind Spot Indication System (BLIS) now uses Steer Assist functionality to reduce the risk of lane-changing collisions. “We have focused on building a car that can deliver pleasure to all of your senses – from a commanding view of the road ahead in a beautifully appointed and calm cabin, to a safe, inspired and confident ride,” said Henrik Green, Senior Vice President Product & Quality at Volvo Car Group. “We’ve paid particular attention to making life easier for our customers by providing them with the creature comforts and services that take the hassle out of everyday life.” Pilot Assist, Volvo’s advanced semi-autonomous driver assistance system, which takes care of steering, acceleration and braking on well-marked roads up to 130 km/h, is available in the new XC60 as an option. 2012 Volvo XC70 Station Wagon Test Drive & Car Review
http://www.autobytel.com/volvo/xc70/2012/?id=32972 Volvo has been making station wagons for decades. The 2012 Volvo XC70 is the latest in a great line-up of safe vehicles. The XC stands for cross-country meaning this station wagon has all-wheel drive and can go practically anywhere and do anything. The great thing about the 2012 Volvo XC70 is that from the rear seats forward it is essentially a sedan offering you tons of comfort and luxury. But the wagon style rear gives you tons of cargo room. In fact the XC70 offers 72 cubic feet of cargo room. The base price for the 2012 Volvo XC70 is $32,950 with the T6 Platinum AWD model going for $43,650. There are 2 different engines choices available on the 2012 Volvo XC70. The first is a 3.2 liter inline 6-cylinder that produces 240 horsepower and 236 lb-ft. of torque. Fuel economy for this engine is 19 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway. The other engine choice is a more powerful turbocharged 3.0 liter 6-cylinder that makes 300 horsepower and 325 lb-ft. of torque. Fuel economy is a bit lower at 17 MPG in the city and 23 MPG on the highway. But the increase in horsepower is well worth it. When it comes to safety the XC70 is packed with the latest and greatest technology from Volvo. There are a myriad of airbags on the XC70 including side impact airbags for the driver and front passenger as well as inflatable curtain airbags for the rear occupants. A Whiplash Protection System is built into the seats as are seatbelt pre-tensioners. The 2012 Volvo XC70 comes equipped with ABS and an Emergency Brake Assist System. The Dynamic Stability Control and Traction Control Systems work to keep the XC70 safely planted. When off-roading the Hill Descent Control system helps to keep the vehicle under control. The XC70 feature high ground clearance for a station wagon and most models come standard with AWD although you can opt for the FWD only system too.
