How To Install Upper Engine Mount Cavalier Sunfire 95-05 1AAuto.com
1A Auto shows you the correct procedure for removing and replacing your
upper engine mount on a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire. This mount fits most J-body
vehicles years 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 00, 01, 02, 03, 04, and 05, such as the
Cavalier and Sunfire.
This his how you check a radiator fan to see if it's failing
intermittently... if the light ever goes out when you jiggle the fan or
turn it, the fan is bad, but may seem to work normally when it's being
observed on the car. It's kind of like Russian Roulette - if it ever stops
on that dark spot it won't run.

Fixbook DIY Car Repair
1996 Chevy Cavalier - Weird Cooling system problem - Help? (Fixed)
Took a video of my gauges after my car sat idle for about 5min. After the
5min the temp gauge (lower left) was peaked out in the red. When I would
rev the car, the temp would go back down to normal (1/2 gauge). The engine
thermostat was replaced, there was no air in the system, coolant pump was
replaced, block test was ok, the coolant fan APPEARS to be running.
Thinking it could be an issue with the coolant fan or the temp gauge in the
dash. Never have seen a car get cooler the higher you rev it lol.
Cooling fan doesn't work
This cooling fan use's a "cooling fan dropping resistor" to achieve low
speed. It's pretty easy to incorrectly assume how this circuit works.
Close review of the circuit diagram will show you it's pretty simple.
However the dropping resistor is kind of an odd-ball and completely
overlook it in the diagram. It's not exactly easy to find either. This
should help you find it & fix it
