Isle Of Man TT - Onboard JHS Racing Supertwin With Dave Moffitt
Dave Moffitt, aka The Legend, takes us for a lap of the Isle of Man TT
during practice week in 2012. After winning the Manx GP in 2011, the
Manxman rode JHS Racing's SV650 Supertwin to 11th place in last year's
Lightweight TT race. And top Suzuki!

Decided I wasn't having fun in my normal races so I entered a race with
GSXR750's, Duc 848's and below. Started last row of 25 entries and finished
8th. Couldn't squeeze by an 848 and a 750 that were attached at the hip in
all the tight sections.

SV650 with CR500 engine
I always wanted a big two stroke street bike, and since the SV650 frame was
narrow I thought my nice CR500 engine would work out well.
Honzuki SVCR500S (SV650 + CR500) Build Transformation
I bought a $200 '01 SV650 and rescued it from a trailer park. The engine
was removed by the previous owner because it was knocking. It had also
been painted all over in a sloppy mess with no masking and no proper
I spent a few weeks in my spare time stripping, cleaning, and blasting the
thing into shape. Underneath all the crud and excess paint was lots of
nice bits in decent shape.
A cradle was cut from an old CR500 frame that had been tweaked and
mounting tabes were welded onto it allowing the SV650 engine mount bolts to
work in their factory mounting locations. The trycky part was the
kickstarter shaft. It had to be lengthened to clear the frame but d@mned
if we are, it broke 3 times after modifcations. This was the Achiles heel
of the project and caused me to become disgrunted and frustrated with it.
I parked it in the back corner of my garage and over the months it wound up
buried under other garage junk.
Some time later a low-mileage '06 SV650 engine showed up on Ebay, and with
an Ebay coupon I got the engine for $186! Once I got it home and converted
the second generation engine to my first generation chassis and mounted it,
I was suprised to find that it started immediately, though it smoked
something serious... the engine was shipped on its side and the oii drained
into the cylinders. Once that blew out the engine ran well, and is still
10/4/10 - UPDATE! - Best of all I sold the old dead engine as parts for
$170, so really tne new engine cost me $16!!!!!!!
Really cool project for under $500!
And the CR500 engine is saved for the next project! :)

Ducati 1199s Panigale & CBR600RR Lowside On The Snake | Johnny5sWorld
On a cold Sunday there were 4 lowsides that I knew of, this is the video
for two. Sorry for the shaky footage (more details below)
CBR600RR - Q2 Tires, track bodywork ziptied together. Rider was on cold
tires moments before lowside. Pressures were also too high for the weather.
No injury to rider, just cosmetic damage to the bike.
Ducati Panigale - 1199s was a rental from racyrentals.com, rider was from
out of town and only had two days on the bike. bike was damaged heavily
from frame, forks, wheels & bodywork. Rider only had minor bruises and road
rash to right forearm. Bike carried full coverage from rental so a $2500.00
vehicle waiver will be charged for the damage.
