Nissan Project 370Z vs 1970 Datsun 240Z with RB26 Track Battle! - The Downshift Episode 54
Many months ago, Nissan asked their fans to help them create the ultimate
370Z track car. They called it Project 370Z. To put it to the test, Nissan
fans were asked to vote for a challenger to compete against it. They chose
a 1970 Datsun 240Z with an RB26 engine transplant built by Gordon MacSwain.
On this episode of The Downshift, we head to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for
an epic David vs Goliath battle between these two amazing machines.

450hp LS1 1978 Datsun 280Z
One of the coolest imports I've had the opportunity to see in action, this
extremely streetable 1978 Datsun 280z takes it's first trip to the drag
strip to do some testing. The car has an LS1 with heads, cam, and FAST
intake manifold putting down around 450 wheel horsepower! Best 1/8 mile
time was 7.11 for the night.
Datsun 240z vs Nissan GTR
This is a homebuilt twin turbo " blow
through " system on a 409 cubic inch Chevy small block engine in a 72
Datsun 240 z. The car is Street Legal due to emission excemptions and is
used for cruising, car shows, and drag racing. It is a Sleeper since it
uses a full Exhaust system and

Dare to Be Different in a Datsun 240Z
Owner Dave Scholz, shares his connection with a Japanese cult classic that
could easily be regarded as the 911 of Japan. Its iconic beauty, modular
mechanics, and desirability inspired Dave to heed to Datsun's famous racing
campaign of the '70s, "Dare to be different."
American heads spun when the 1970s ultimately snuffed out their beloved horsepower-drunk
muscle cars. As the world watched them squirm for performance, Japan was
busy developing the 240Z to bring a new thrill to American roads using
balance, harmony, and technology.

independent suspension but it has a habit of incorporating these
sophisticated systems into brilliantly conceived and easily affordable
