This striking '71 'Cuda pro-tourer, with its 605 cubic inch Hemi V8, fully
custom suspension and sleek leather interior, is perfect for the muscle car
fan who wants the best of absolutely everything!
The beneficiary of a professional, frame-off restoration that was completed
by the owners of Lakeside Rods and Customs in Rockwell City, Iowa, this
slick Plymouth super star features a seamless custom appearance that's
highlighted by an immaculate coat of matte-finish paint. The team's plan
was to create a car that was unlike anything they'd ever built. And this
gnarly pro-tourer, decked in PPG Dark Titanium, detailed in a striking
combination of black, orange and silver, and finished in PPG Flex N' Flat
clear, ended up the perfect cross between a '70s drag car and a modern
When this sinister 'Cuda rumbled into the showroom, it caused such a
commotion that our entire staff came out of their offices just to check it
out. And when we lifted the hood and found a 605 cubic inch Indy Street
Legend Hemi that produces an amazing 850 horsepower and a stunning
790 lb./ft. of torque, we certainly weren't disappointed! At the top of
that Maxx aluminum block, a custom shaker forces wind through a reusable
filter element into a giant King Demon carburetor that's cinched to a
ported intake and fresh stainless fuel lines. At the sides of that intake,
Indy 426 heads, which have been fitted with high quality roller rockers and
clean stainless valves, hang slick orange covers over an Indy-supplied
rotating assembly that includes Wiseco 10.75 to 1 pistons, Eagle H-beam
connecting rods, a Callies 4340 crank, ARP bolts and a Comp roller cam. At
the sides of that rotating assembly, black long-tube headers swirl spent
gases into a rowdy true dual Exhaust
system. At the front of those headers, a familiar Billet Specialties Tru
Trac system spins a chrome Powermaster alternator above a polished Billet
Specialties power steering pump. And the big motor's fires are lit by a
Painless Wiring harness that utilizes an MSD 6AL ignition system to spark
an MSD coil, a color-keyed MSD Pro-Billet distributor and high performance
MSD plug wires.
Behind that high-octane engine, you'll find a TCI-supplied Powerglide
that's wrapped in a Reid Racing case. That stalwart 2-speed spins a custom
driveshaft that's hooked to a Ford nine inch Traction-Lok rear end, tall
3.73 gears and Strange 31-spline axles. As you can probably tell from our
pictures, that rock-solid drivetrain is suspended by a custom Art Morrison
MaxG chassis that's fitted with a Corvette C6 front clip, a Corvette C6
sway bar, a Watt's Link rear clip and Strange coil over shocks. And power
flows to the pavement through a slick set of custom Intro wheels that spin
245/40ZR18 and 335/30ZR20 Pirelli P Zeros around chrome lug nuts and
Inside this stunning Mopar you'll find a completely custom interior that's
tight, technological and in excellent condition. The firm seats,
custom-stitched suede and leather units that are equipped with RCI Camlock
harnesses, feel comfortable enough to spend a sunny afternoon in. In front
of those seats, a custom, Lakeside-built dash hangs a sweet set of Classic
Instruments Velocity gauges above Large Rockford Fosgate speakers and small
Rockford Fosgate tweeters. And the car's driver stays connected to the road
via a painted tilt steering column that's complete with stylized stalks and
a sporty Momo Nero wheel.

This car is the pilot car for the Legends Cuda street series, which has
become some of the most feared street machines ever built. With 1,030
actual miles, this Legends Edition Cuda is painted in bright silver and
features custom painted, black Mr. Norm's Hemi billboards with neon green
pin stripping on its quarter panels. The cars styling has been tweaked and
modified throughout using a variety of authentic reproduction '71 Cuda
parts and custom Mr. Norm's replacement pieces. Based on the production 6.1
liter Hemi, the engine now measures 6.9 liters and features a Kenne Bell Supercharger and performance modifications
that result in close to 900 horsepower to the car's rear
wheels. Underneath the car, custom Mr. Norm's suspension, Brembo brakes and
a Corsa cat back Exhaust complete the
package. At each corner, Mr. Norm's forged and polished two piece 'Thrust'
wheels measure 20 inches and ride on 255/45/20 front and 305/45/20 rear
Pirelli Scorpion Zero Assimetrico radials. Inside the car, the console lid
and all seats have been recovered with leather and suede Mr. Norm's covers
that feature silver stitching and prominently display the Mr. Norm's
Legends Cuda logo on the front buckets. A slick carbon fiber pistol grip
shift knob and a Mr. Norm's chrome shifter sit between the seats and on the
passenger's side of the dash, the Mr. Norm's identification plaque reads
"MRN 09 Pilot" confirming this cars status as the very first Legends Cuda.
This is a brilliantly executed tuner car by one of the biggest names in the

Lady Luck was on our side last week as the Legendary Team made its way to
the Chrysler Proving Grounds in Chelsea, Michigan.
An all night drive through a snow storm saw us pull into the proving
grounds parking lot at the crack of dawn. It was cold and overcast but no
sign of rain or snow. It looked like the weather would cooperate, the next
hurdle was having MOPAR engineers check out the Cuda. The car passed with
flying colors, testament to the sweat and dedication put in by everyone at
Legendary over the last year.
Then it was off to the black lake for some real world handling tests in
preparation for the 4.75 mile oval and a crack a breaking the 200 mph mark.
Both the Cuda and the Enzo look impressive on the track but once the sun
began to come out late that morning the setting was perfect for our high
speed run. I think we captured some spectacular footage of a once in a life
After a brief mishap, when the Cuda lost its windshield trim at 190 mph,
Peter was ready to go. We could hear the Cuda coming long before we could
see her, as the cars went by they sounded like jet fighters. Top speed 208
mph with still some leftwe did it!

time is the fact that Dodge is making the Challenger again. But how does it
stack up against the legendary Challengers of old? Well, Stacey decided to
find out! First, by "grabbing" a Challenger in a most unorthodox way... and
then comparing it head-to-head with a 70'440 six-pack car. But that's not

sticking on a Supercharger and really

Newest addition to Ken's fold! This 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda features a 572
cubic inch Hemi engine turning out over 800hp through a 4 speed G-Force
Transmission. This was the first time out with the car so still getting the
feel of things.

71 Plymouth GTX Startup
1971 Plymouth GTX that I've been working on getting back on the road. We
got it as a "almost running" car. "Almost running" was somewhere between
very generous and flat out false. We've ended up replacing all the bushings
in the suspension and rebuilding the engine and the brakes. Now it's
getting to the point that it's driveable and hoo-boy is it a hoot. Always
fun to do the no tag, no muffler shakedown run :)
Here's some specs:
440cu (7.2L) V8 with 727 Torqeflite reverse manual valve body; 8 3/4 rear
end with 3.91 gearset. All going out to a pair of 15x10 Centerline rims
with BF Goodrich 295/50R15 tires. Still not sure if we're going to be
putting in the 4-speed or keeping the brutal automatic. Such a fun car. My
little camera can't capture the amount of noise this thing puts out. It
currently is just running around an old set of 2.5" pipes with no mufflers
that end somewhere under the rear seats.
