K20 Swap Civic Eg Midnight RR Prequel (Part 2)
Now that the Bubble (EG6 Civic) has been prep-up for the K-swap, The wait game is over. Mugen finally bought K20a motor. The 2 amigo's work together to bolt on every part onto the body of eg6. Once the k20a drivetrain was installed, Mugen friend Tino, has done a lot of R&D on today's technology and electronic's and was the man to wire up K-Pro ECU to from engine harness to Civic body electrical fuse box and the S2000 AP1 gauge cluster one pin at a time. Once the EG6 Civic was together and successfully road tested to drive on the roadways, Mugen drove the Eg6 Civic to Evans Tuning to calibrate K-Pro to max out engine HP. After the tune, Mugen has upgraded to better brand headers and 3inch Exhaust to reach HP tune to 230hp. 1993 Honda Del Sol TransTop with JDM B16A SiR II Swap on polished XXR 521 with BYS Front aero
Music provided by : BeatFux http://soundcloud.com/beatfux I always wanted to see a Transtop conversions since they where never made here brought to the United States. The Transtop was indeed an OEM option back in the 90's that was way ahead of it's time. Check out this youtube video to see a full demonstration- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7yuX3x7rEQ The del Sol transtop was standard on 92-95 del Sols in Japan, and was optional from the factory in every other country including Japan from 92-97. The US was one of the only countries to not get the del Sol CR-X in 1992. The transtop is NOT available to add to your del Sol, as it requires almost every interior trunk chassis panel to be replaced to accommodate it. It would be easier to cut your Sol in half and weld on a JDM transtop rear section than to install and wire up a transtop piece by piece. The transtop itself takes around 45 seconds to run it's cycle, which is 20 seconds longer than it takes to get out of your car and do it yourself. It was never brought to the US for a few reasons. Obviously cost of maintenance is a big one. We're cheap over here, and none of us want to pay $200 to have their automatic top removed fixed because it stopped halfway up at a stoplight. Also, they were very problematic. They were plagued with motor, gear, and clip issues that would constantly stop the trunk mid cycle. Overall, it is one badass idea that just didn't work out very well. Stick with your car the way it is, and marvel at the transtop every time you get the chance to see one, but don't ever wish you had it yourself, for they were what brought the del Sol away from the splendor of actually being recognized as a CR-X.
