"VIP" (pronounced like whip or zip... not V.I.P) is the Japanese way of dressing cars up... body kits, dropped suspension, HID fog lights, custom headlights, wood and leather interiors, big rims and low profile tyres...all that. Fabulous or Junction Produce are big names in the VIP genre. Although some people try to VIP little cars, generally speaking VIP cars are big body sedans with larger engines, are luxurious and chunky looking. I think personally companies like Brabus and Lorinser styled Merceds would be considered "VIP" and are probably part of the influence behind the genre. Any large sedan can be "VIPPED"... though the Japanese tend to go for Japanese sedans or cars like Jaguar and Mercedes Benz. The video is in Japanese however, it is back to back VIP cars, so you can enjoy the view and forget the words. The people are talking about why they decided to style their cars VIP, how they did it, which products and styling comapnies they used etc... all kind of irrelevant unless you live in Japan and want to do the same. The video shows some of the most striking examples of Japanese VIP cars, so if you are new to the genre, Im sure youre going to love the styling. VIP cars are incredible. 450hp LS1 1978 Datsun 280Z
One of the coolest imports I've had the opportunity to see in action, this extremely streetable 1978 Datsun 280z takes it's first trip to the drag strip to do some testing. The car has an LS1 with heads, cam, and FAST intake manifold putting down around 450 wheel horsepower! Best 1/8 mile time was 7.11 for the night.
