The Chevrolet Aveo boasts high levels of standard equipment, and a new, motorbike-inspired interior. The funky rev counter and LED speedometer add a sporty touch to the Aveo's cabin, while the coupe-inspired styling, including hidden rear door handles and aggressive headlights, adds even more kerbside appeal. The Aveo is more practical than the excellent Suzuki Swift, and with prices set to undercut many of the class leaders, Chevrolet has created a tempting package. A new diesel version should also be one of the most frugal cars in its class too.
Chevrolet Spark review - CarBuyer
Full review: http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/chevrolet/spark/hatchback/review
The Chevrolet Spark is a big step forward when you compare it to the Matiz which it replaced. The bold nose and angular shape is designed to appeal to younger buyers, but in reality the Spark looks fussy compared to rivals such as the Hyundai i10. Power comes from a choice of two petrol engines - 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre - and both can return more than 55mpg. Considering how small the Spark is, passenger space is good, but the boot is small. And while the cabin looks smart, the hard, shiny plastics that it's made from feel cheap.
Hyundai i30 review - CarBuyer
Full review: http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/hyundai/i30/hatchback/review
The Hyundai i30 is aiming for the top of its class - it's the Korean brand's latest rival to the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus, sharing many exterior styling cues with its bigger brother, the Hyundai i40. The striking looks and upmarket cabin are combined with some of the highest equipment levels in the family hatchback sector. All models come with Bluetooth, LED daytime running lights, a multi-function steering wheel and electric heated door mirrors.
Chrysler Ypsilon review - CarBuyer
Full review: http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/chrysler/ypsilon/hatchback/review
The Chrysler Ypsilon is a five-door hatchback designed to compete with the Volkswagen Polo, Fiat 500 and Ford Fiesta. Despite an eye-catching appearance and unique interior styling the Ypsilon falls short of the competition once behind the wheel and is expensive to buy. Interior materials also feel cheap when compared to rivals.
Mitsubishi Colt review - CarBuyer
Full review: http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/mitsubishi/colt/hatchback/review
The Mitsubishi Colt is well made, cleverly designed and represents excellent value for money. Competing against the Hyundai i20 and Renault Twingo, the Colt has decent rear cabin space whilst the versatile split-folding rear seats are useful if you need to carry bulky items - especially in five-door form. Entry level three-cylinder models are cheap to buy but the 1.3-ClearTec model is the most efficient and comes with stop/start as standard. Hot hatch fans should try the 147bhp Ralliart model.

2011 Chevrolet Aveo roadtest (english subtitled)
We gaan rijden.

Alfa Romeo MiTo review - CarBuyer
Full review: http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/alfa-romeo/mito/hatchback/review
With all the style Alfa Romeo is famed for, a wide choice of economical engines and an impressive list of personalisation options, it's no wonder that the MiTo is Alfa's best-selling model. There's even a good deal of space inside - enough for four adults at a push. However, it lacks the comfort and overall build quality to beat the Audi A1 and MINI for upmarket feel. Some of the cabin plastics are too hard and look cheap. The engine range offers great economy, though, which offsets the MiTo's relatively high purchase price. The MultiAir petrol engines impress with their performance and smoothness.

Honda CR-Z review - CarBuyer
Full review: http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/honda/cr_z/hatchback/review
As fuel-prices are on the up, it's becoming harder to find genuine driving thrills on a budget. But Honda thinks it has the answer. The CR-Z is based on the Honda Insight, but it uses a 112bhp 1.5-litre engine, rather than a 1.3-litre unit. The petrol engine is paired with a 10bhp electric motor, which gives the CR-Z a 0-62mph time of 9.9 seconds and top speed of 124mph.
