60's Drag Racing

Gassers (I was really into the Willys coupes!), Early Funny Cars, some Stockers, Rails, and more, taken when I was just a kid. Most are from the NHRA Nationals in Indy, some from Great Lakes Dragway, and from US 131 in Martin, Michigan. The Hemi Under Glass is a hand-out, not an original photo.

It was the first time that an 8-car qualified field were all in the 5.60 range; Brian Spotts and Micky Hale knocking out identical and perfect 5.600s against one another in round one...margin of victory was just 14 ten-thousandths of a second!; Micky Hale earned the Alkydigger number one qualifier award; Brian Spotts nailed the Good Vibrations Motorsports Reaction Time award during his round one win over Hale with a .147 ; and it was Alan Borowski and Brian Spotts meeting in the final round for the fourth time this season! Borowski now owns that series of finals 3-1 with his win yesterday, and it was the perfect way for him to end the weekend winning at home. Many thanks to Jerry and his staff at Empire Dragway, and to all the racers and fans who joined us for Saturday night's festivities!
