The Chevy Sonic is a small car with aggressive, youthful design in five-door and sedan models. Each of the two Sonic models delivers a surprisingly roomy passenger environment and generous cargo space -- including rear-seat roominess and cargo space that tops key competitors. A wide, planted stance with wheels-at-the-corners proportions conveys performance, while progressive, raked body lines suggest movement even when the car is stationary.
The Chevrolet Sonic is available with an Ecotec 1.4L turbo with an estimated 138 hp (103 kW). The Ecotec 1.4L turbo's power ratings are estimated at 138
horsepower (103 kW) and 148 lb.-ft. of torque (200 Nm) between 1,850 rpm and 4,900 rpm.
More importantly, the Sonic sedan and Sonic hatchback are the only small cars built in America. Production of the Sonic begins later in 2011 at GM's Orion Assembly Center in Michigan, which received a $545 million investment in upgrades and retooling, and will help restore approximately 1,000 jobs in the metropolitan Detroit area.
