My friend's 79 TA with a single 3 inch Exhaust set up like a 4th gen. In fact he has modified 4th gen LT1 manifolds and Y pipe up front, built a 3" intermediate pipe to the rear axle, drops to 2.5" over the axle and goes into a 2.5" Flowmaster. Engine is a junkyard Vortec 350 with a cam and carburerated intake with a Holley 750 mech secondary carb. Also has a six speed trans. Drive shaft from a 2.8 liter Blazer fit perfect! I won't say anything about the secret Nitrous setup!
Single Turbo Iroc stock TPI 350 finally hits 7's in the 1/8! Firestone radial tires & 13.5 psi
Finally made 7.9 in the 1/8th on the stock engine TPI 5.7 turbo Iroc! I've driven it over 600 miles in the
past week, been to two drag strips and a Dyno session getting 18-22
mpg... and it just hit 145k miles on the clock yesterday! My friend's 79
Nitrous TA got me, but only after he
bolted on the ET streets. His car does run great though, but if I put
Vortec heads and a cam in my car I think he'll have a big problem!
I battled some strange problems with the Megasquirt today though and it is
an extension of other AFR problems I've always had with it. Towards the
end of the day my AFR kept climbing to high 11's low 12's even at 14 psi.
You can see in several of my runs that I let out and ran about 10 mph
slower. I added a ton of fuel and it didn't improve. After the last run I
let the car cool about 30 mins and on the way home we found low 10's AFR at
the same Boost and rpm. I had to
throw away the day's tuning because it was all too rich. Time to consider
a Big Stuff 3 if this keeps happening.

Josh Peel sets new record ET for Panama Beach Raceway then goes off the track!
4.94 @ 148.84 pass in the 1/8 mile!
After finding out how short Panama Beach Raceway's shutdown area is the
hard way, Josh ended up off the side of the track but damage was minor.
Two turbos on a sand diet along with a
a few scratches and dings. Beautiful and awesome car though, and he had
it running in two hours! He then made two sandbagged passes including one
in the 5's at only 99 mph!
iroc turbo first 7 second pass on board camera
See my other vids for more info. This is the first time the car got into
the 7's. It's all stock except for 13 psi and supporting mods for the turbo setup.
Sorry for the sound clipping, I used my web cam on my laptop for onboard
video and the mic just didn't like it. Time to buy a mount for my regular
Turbo Iroc TPI 5.7 single 3" exhaust Magnaflow muffler sound clip
Finally tacked my other tail pipe on and thought I'd upload a sound clip at
the request of a couple of people. It sounds very stock, almost exactly
like the stock muffler did on my walk around video from two years ago,
except for a little turbo spooling down
sound and the Walbro pump in the background. Certainly doesn't sound like
something runs 7.90's in the 1/8th!
Turbo Iroc 9 bolt TA cover install
After dealing with constantly loosening cover bolts and the leaks that go
along with loose bolts, I ordered a TA cover for my 9 bolt. It has
preloaders for the bearing caps and should help stiffen up the housing,
which seemed to be flexing enough to loosen the bolts every few days.
Near disaster when a bearing cap bolt broke off was avoided with an easy
out and some luck.
My Supercharged 500hp/500tq+ 2003 GMC Sierra
Here's my baby that I'm selling. Sorry for the fact that the video is
crooked, and I apologize ahead of time for any neck pain that may result
from having to tilt your head to watch the video. Only about 69,944 miles,
beautiful condition inside and out. Runs like a dream! Easily one of the
cleanest and fastest Sierra's you'll ever find!
1992 GMC with Built vortec 355
This is a 1992 GMC 2500 2wd 5 speed. It originally had a 4.3 v-6, but that
blew up. Before I owned it, it was used by an older gentleman for a lawn
mowing business and only has 116,000 miles on it.
I had a 355 that I built for my Camaro, but this truck came along
and needed the engine more.
Here are the engine specs:
2-bolt 350 block from '99 vortec truck bored .030 over
ARP main studs
Scat 9000 series crank
Eagle 5140 forged 6 inch rods
speed pro hypereutectic 2 valve relief flattop pistons with teflon coated
skirts and full floating pins. compression is 9.8:1.
speed pro 1/16 in moly rings
Rotating assembly was balanced
Vortec heads that were milled to true them
TPIS ZZ9 hydraulic roller cam (212/226 @ .050 .480/.520 lift)
Comp cams beehive springs with titanium retainers
pushrods are new stock replacements
stock stamped self-aligning rocker arms
Edelbrock performer RPM carbureted vortec intake
holley 670 street avenger carb
stock gm hei distributer
It has shorty headers and a really nice high flowing y-pipe that I made for
it. It has a single 3 inch Exhaust
with a chambered thrush muffler (flomaster sound). It's not super loud, but
it does attract attention. The idle has a nice little lope to it and I get
a lot of complements on how it sounds.
It should put out around 375 hp. maybe a little more. with a little more
cam it could be well into the 400's
This engine is probably too much for the truck and would be best suited for
a muscle car or street rod. It probably only has 5,000 miles on it, if
that. Since the break in oil was drained I have only used synthetic oil.
The truck is in good shape for the year. There is NO RUST in the body and
the sheet metal is pretty straight. The rear bumper is slightly pushed in
and the tailgate is dented, but works fine. Everything is solid.
The interior has crank windows, manual locks and a rubber floor mat.
The a/c, cruise control and radio do not work.
The transmission is a NV3500. It works well but the 2nd gear syncros are
starting to go. I can drive it fine without grinding.
It's a light 2500. It has the beefy drive shaft and 14-bolt rearend but
only has the 6-lug flanges. rear gears are 3.42's and of course it's 2wd.
I would like to get $4,000 for the truck as a runner. I know that's kind of
high, but it's a pretty bad-a** engine with hardly any miles on it. It
would cost me that much just to build another engine like it.
I will also take $850 for the truck minus engine
Hopefully I have answered any questions you may have
here is a youtube link of it running so you can hear it and get a better
look than 4 pictures can provide.
