Taking A Short Drive In My 78 Buick Regal
What could be more fun on a cold December day than taking a car with lots
of horsepower and
little tires for a drive? Ride with me as I drive to the local Taco Bell
for some lunch on the way to Honest Performance in Federal Way. Please
excuse the dropped camera, just had it sitting on the dash and it wanted to
fall off every time I stabbed the gas. Visit the racing organization I race

The McLaren P1 Test. On Road and Track - /CHRIS HARRIS ON CARS
Chris Harris drives the new $1.2 million McLaren P1 at the Yas Marina Grand
Prix circuit in Abu Dhabi UAE. Before taking to the track at night, Chris
Harris chats with Chris Goodwin, the Chief Test Driver for McLaren
Automotive to discuss the technology of McLaren's latest offering, perhaps
the definition of the modern day hypercar.
Fair warning, the McLaren Chris Harris drives in this video is the XP7, the
pre-production prototype for P1. The car has had a long life over the past
15 months, driving around the world and clocking over 40,000 hard miles.

The Basic Parts of an Automatic Transmission (Part 1)
Visit me at: http://www.ericthecarguy.com/
This is part one of my front wheel drive (FWD) automatic transmission
dissection video. In this video I cover the operation of clutches, bands,
accumulators, clutch drums, the oil pump, the valve body, valves, check
balls, seals and 'o' rings, as well as the construction and function of
many of the internal hard parts of an automatic transmission. To be honest
a rear wheel drive transmission isn't much different as many of the basic
components are the same. I guess what I'm saying is that you could use the
information in this video to have a basic understanding of a rear wheel
drive automatic transmission also. It is just a basic overview of the main
components. I don't get into theory and operation so much. Just the
general operation and identification of the parts. I may make more videos
on this topic based on the comments I get so feel free to ask questions and
perhaps I'll answer them in a future video on this topic. There will also
be a separate video on the parts and operation of the torque converter as
well. When that is posted I'll post links below to that video.

UPDATE: Car has now run a best of 9.82 at 135 mph in the quarter mile on
255 radials. 60' time of 1.32 on same 255 radials. Yes, it's still a street
legal car that gets driven on the street. Gonna try some slicks on it now.
All brightwork is now powdercoated in a special order color called "Bronze
Burst". See my other videos for action shots of the car running 9 second
1/4 mile passes.
Here is my 78 Buick Regal fresh out of the paint booth. Still has a few
pieces yet to be put back on, but it is looking good!!! The color is House
Of Kolors Candy Tangerine over silver base coat. The car is street legal
and runs mid 10s at 127 MPH in the quarter mile on drag radials with a
naturally aspirated Chevy small block motor. Should be going quicker soon.

1987 Buick Grand National (Regal T-Type Turbo) Start Up, Exhaust, and In Depth Review
**I made an editing error at the beginning. Thanks a bunch to Streetside
Classics of Charlotte, NC for allowing me to film this video!
Hello and welcome to Saabkyle04! YouTube's largest collection of automotive
variety! In today's video, we will take an up close and personal in depth
look at the understated muscle car of the late 80s, the Buick Grand
National, this one specifically the Regal T-Type. The GN and the T-Type are
identical except for badging and interior trim. It wasn't until you
stepped it on up to the GNX did you get the truly different package (which
I will explain in the video). The GN is arguably the most menacing looking
buick of all time with it's black monochrome paint scheme and turbo charged 3.8 V6 pumping out amazing
performance numbers for the time period, even today! A unique experience
to be able to check out one of these beasts. During this presentation, we
will take a 1st person look at what the vehicle is all about beginning with
the start up, performance data, fuel economy, the occasional track data,
and build quality. Also, I will teach you how to use most of the interior
and exterior features in a detailed fashion, that before, you could only
get from going to a dealership yourself! Throughout the video, I will
highlight key styling and unique differences about the vehicle, any
available options, and of course it would not be an enthusiast car video
without the good ole engine portion with rev and Exhaust note with interior and exterior
perspectives. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a
greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.
FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE CHANNEL SEE BELOW: In this channel you will
find in depth reviews/tour of automobiles from all over the world,
presented in a more detailed fashion than ever before. Basically, this
gives the viewer the chance to view the most detailed 1st person look you
can get without going to an actual dealer yourself! Every video is
consistent in the way I present so viewers know what to expect in my
presentations. I treat every vehicle with the same respect whether a 1960
Chevrolet Impala SS or the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador. I film all types of
vehicles from past, present, and future while broadening the knowledge of
the automotive enthusiast. You will see everything from vintage, brand new,
exotic, mainstream, old, etc. I am very proud of this channel and have
built it up from amateur videos years ago to what you see today. I wanted
to share my love for the automotive world with the rest of the world. Be
sure to explore the massive video variety, have fun and enjoy The Driver's
Seat of YouTube!

2014 Buick Regal GS AWD Review and Road Test
In my mind, Volkswagens used to be the "Euro Buick." Positioned as a note
above the mass market rabble, VW's Passat shared parts with Audi's A4, the
Touareg and Phaeton were luxury cars with a mass market logo on the hood.
Then Volkswagen decided this was the wrong strategy for them so they
repositioned VW as the German alternative to Toyota and Chevrolet. This
left a gaping hole in the market for shoppers looking to step into a
Eurpoean near-luxury vehicle that flew under the radar. And then Buick
stepped in. Say what? That's right, Buick's Opel-based product offensive
has transformed the brand from Barcalounger wheels for the octogenarian to
a window into the soul of GM's German brand. This transformation isn't an
easy one as Buick's problem wasn't just blue-haired buyers and slinky-soft
springs. Buick is the penultimate middle child. Jammed between Chevrolet
and Cadillac, brand B's mission is to give Chevy buyers something to aspire
to and Cadillac buyers something to graduate from. The Buick Regal I had
for a week is in even more of a tight spot being the middle child's middle
child slotting between the Verano and LaCrosse.
GM's HiPer Strut suspension is designed to bring the steering axis more in
line with the tire centerline, something you typically find in rear-wheel
drive cars. Aligning the axises more closely results in better tracking,
less torque steer and a front tire with a more consistent camber across the
suspension's travel. Versus the outgoing model, the front tires contact
patch is improved in corners when the front suspension is loaded resulting
in higher grip. Coupled with an AWD system that sends 50% of the power to
the rear under hard acceleration, we get the first Buick in a long time
with virtually zero torque steer.
The downside to the trendy new steering knuckle design is feel. Steering is
very precise but suffers from the same Novocaine-laced feeback as
everything else out there with electric power steering. Coupled with a
58/42 F/R weight distribution, the Regal GS has impeccable manners up to
9/10ths where things go pear-shaped and you start oversteering off into the
bushes. Trouble is without steering feedback it's hard to tell where
9/10ths is located. In contrast, the Volvo S60 T6 AWD and S80 T6 AWD offer
less grip but more feel.
2014 Buick Regal GS AWD Exterior-007
Driving a FWD Regal back to back with out AWD tester, I kept thinking
"there's just something I dislike about the FWD model". As it turns out
there is a reason the FWD Regal felt unsettled in the rear over broken
pavement, the AWD model gets an entirely different "H-Link" independent
rear suspension. Coupled with the active dampers, the Regal felt well
composed on a variety of road surfaces despite being tuned firmer than the
rest of the American and Swedish competition.
Put your foot to the floor and the 2014 GS will run to 60 in 6.7 seconds,
exactly the same as the W-Body Regal GS I remember with fond memories. The
difference of course is that the W-Body's torque steer made the car feel
like it was part car ans part carnival ride while the 2014 model tracks
straight and true with zero drama all the way to a 15.2 second 1/4 mile.
Stacking this up with the competition, the Regal is notably slower than the
Cadillac CTS/ATS 2.0T and Volvo's 3.0L turbocharged models; and a hair slower than the
3.7L Lincoln MKZ, Lexus ES 350 and Acura TL.
