This video is a side by side comparison used to illustrate the performance differences between the SuperFlow MV90 and MV50 12-volt Portable Air Compressors. Because of additional hoses and fittings required for the test, actual performance of the units when used individually is better than what you see here. The test truck is an 2008 F250 Super Duty Diesel with 275-70-R15 Tires. Both units come with a nylon carry bag and coil air hoses. Air Compressor made from 2 Briggs Lawnmower engines
I built this aircompressor using 2 Briggs and Stratton 3-1/2 hp lawnmower engines. The v belt drive uses a "B" section belt providing a 1:6 speed reduction so the compressor runs about 600 rpm at full speed. The slower air is compressed, the better, so more heat from compression can leave the air, this results in a more efficient compressor. A machinist friend actually built the head for me, he always does top notch work, and makes things look good as well, a real craftsman! This was built 11 years ago, so the head has a little surface rust now, inspite of being stored indoors. The valves are air operated, they are like a coin, say a quarter, held to the head by 3 machine screws that allow about 1/16" of travel off the seat. I used 304 stainless steel for the valves, so the wouldn't rust. The compressor will put out 125psi, and I have ran it 45 minutes straight, it just loves to drain the small lawnmower gas tank, as it runs at almost full throttle all the time! The discharge air is hotter than it should be, and I have popped 1 air hose apart the the fitting due to the heat, thats why I ran some extra elbows to help after-cool the air. I believe some of this is due to the steel cylinder head not being able to flow enought heat out of the compressor cylinder. But at least the beast runs well, and has never stuck a valve open yet!

MV50 SupeFlow Air Compressor 25-35 psi test
Superflow MV50 25 to 35 psi in under 1:30. This 12-Volt unit connects directly to the battery. The demo was done using a 08 Ford F250 with a 275-70-R18 Tire. Because of additional hoses and fittings required for the test, actual performance of the unit is better than what you see here.
