Huge Burnout! You've gotta see this. I went tire shopping the other day and decided to finish off and enjoy the old tires that were on the truck. Last weekend my buddy and I street racing my '84 C10 with a 5.3 LS swap against his '96 Trans Am LT1 5.7. Was a fun day! More to come :) Truck is running lean @ 15.6:1. A rematch video will be posted once the truck gets my home ported heads and a tune. 1984 Chevrolet Truck C10: '01 5.3 325ci, LS6 Cam Home P&P, .030 mill, 2" LS1 in Valves 4L80E, 3.73, Eaton posi, 20" Wheels Stock Exhaust manifolds with dual Exhaust, no cats 1996 Pontiac Trans AM: 5.7 LT1 T56, 3.42 gears Long Tube headers with "Mike" built Exhaust. UPDATE 2-2013: Finally got the truck Dyno'd yesterday! woohoo! It would be considered the ''after" Dyno. After my home ported heads were installed and tuned. It is no longer running lean. Now my bald tires are slipping. Time for tires and then a rerun. I've already messaged Mike in the TA. '87 Chevy C10 Front Suspension "How To" Rebuild in 15 mins - Truck R10
You'll see the whole front suspension removed and replaced with new parts. No audio. Just descriptions on the screen and the complete process which took a full day compressed into 15 minutes. The rear has a flip kit which I think is 5". So this made it a 4.5/5 drop. But I had to take the spindles back off because of wheel clearance issue with the 15x8 rallys hitting the steering knuckle. That sets my current drop at 2/5. I have a set of 15x7 rallys to put on that should fix my clearance issue and allow me to put my spindles back on. 15x7 rallys have 3/4" less back spacing then the 15x8 rallys. Muscle Truck vs. Baja Bug! 1974 Chevy C10 Battles Fred's Volkswagen Baja Bug - Roadkill Ep. 28
Remember the drag racing '74 Chevy Muscle Truck from Roadkill Episode 18? It's back, but with a twist: it's gonna become a true dual-sport ride for surf and turf, shedding its drag slicks for Super Swamper Boggers and hitting the sand dunes...hard! And to prove that a lowered, two-wheel-drive pickup can dominate the dunes, Freiburger and Finnegan set up a shootout with Fred Williams from the Dirt Every Day series on the Motor Trend channel. Fred brought out his '69 VW Baja Bug from DED Episode 23 and went head to head with the Muscle Truck on the beach at Pismo, California. The Roadkill/HOT ROD Magazine Muscle Truck is a '74 Chevy C10 shortbed, stepside, with a GM LS6 crate engine (like the all-aluminum V8 found in a C6 ZO6 Corvette). It's stock other than a small crane cam, midlength headers, and a new addition for this episode: MSD's Atomic EFI (the truck used to run a carburetor). The Atomic setup is atop a BBK intake manifold, and uses a stock LS1 throttle body. That legendary Exhaust sound comes from 3-inch pipe with 4-inch Dynomax Bullet race mufflers. The truck's transmission is a JW turbo 400 backed by a Gear Vendors over/underdrive unit. And it really needs overdrive because the Ford 9-inch rear carries 5.13 gears and a spool. The suspension features dropped spindles and Ridetech Strong Arms and air bags up front. In the rear, two leaves were removed from the stock spring packs, they were flipped under the axle, and traction is delivered by Caltrac's bars. This is the LS 5.3 swap into my '87 Chevy truck over a weekend shown in time-lapse. I drove the truck home one Friday and started pulling the engine. Friends showed up and helped me knock it out. By Monday we had the swap completed and just had the bugs to work out over the next week. I'm daily driving it now and learning to tune on it. Once I get it tuned well I will have a Dyno video up. This video doesnt have a lot of detail in it.
