SOLD - SIMILAR REQUIRED CALL 01733 425140 A marvellous MG Midget in a stunning restored condition. EQUIPMENT Polyurethane bumpers, curved zone-toughened windscreen, integral vinyl coated hood, twin chrome door mirrors, wind-down door windows with hinged ventilators, interior rear view anti-dazzle mirror, fresh air heater, swivelling sun visors, map shelf, oil, fuel and water gauges, trip and mileage recorder , rev counter, electric tachometer, windscreen washer, hazard warning lights. Upgrade items includes rake adjusting leather seats, matching door cards and trim, red carpeting, walnut dash, CD radio, rear tonneau cover, chrome luggage rack, leather gear knob and gaiter. EXTERIOR The exterior of this Midget is striking after a repaint in Ferrari Rosso Red. It has a fabulous appearance with a uniform polished shine. There is no structural corrosion or rust on the body, however there are some minor areas of paint cracking to the panel seams. The often criticized polyurethane bumpers are in excellent condition, albeit there are a few minor marks to the front bumper. All trim articles and badge work are intact and perfect. All glass and lights are original and in excellent order. The rear luggage rack offers increased practicality and adds a charming period touch to the car. The vinyl hood was a replacement in May 2010 and remains in as new condition. The rear mohair tonneau cover purchased at the same time is also as new and compliments the car beautifully. INTERIOR A delightful re-trim in Cream leather with red piping add a touch of luxury to what was originally MG's entry level sports car. The leather seats are in lovely condition, as are the matching door cards and foot well trim. The upgrade red carpeting is clean and free from wear. The walnut dash with original Smiths gauges commends the interior well. All the controls, gauges and switches work perfectly. The upgrade Sony CD radio with MP3 connectivity brings a welcome modern touch. An excellent revised interior, adding a hint of indulgence whilst still retaining the spirit of the MG Midget. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION This four cylinder o.h.v 1493cc engine with twin carb offers ample performance for daily use and produces 65bhp. The rugged engine is a simple unit and was shared with the Triumph Spitfire so has fantastic parts availability, every classic car owners dream! This example performs faultlessly. The replacement MG Midget sports Exhaust provides an exciting throaty rasp. The four-speed all synchromesh gearbox gives sporty performance coupled with real fuel economy. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES The upgraded Minilite alloy wheels are immaculate and finished in an alloy/chrome style. All tyres are as new. The boot mounted spare is the original Rostyle wheel and is in excellent order. The hydraulic brakes employing 8.25 inch discs at the front and 7 inch drums at the rear offer safe stopping power. HISTORY FILE The history file accompanying the car is complete with receipts and invoices for many new parts. There is a photographic log of the comprehensive restoration the car has received, illustrating the level of work carried out and the high standard of workmanship. Many old MOT's, tax discs and a period brochure are included within the original MG black leather wallet. The final stage of the restoration was a no expense spared interior re-trim. SOLD - SIMILAR REQUIRED CALL 01733 425140 An incredible Honda S800 Coupe with competition success and last owner 40 years. MODEL HISTORY Introduced at the 1965 Tokyo Motor Show, the S800 would replace the successful Honda S600 as the company's image car and would compete with the Austin-Healey Sprite, MG Midget, Triumph Spitfire and Fiat 850 Spider. Officially available in the UK from 1967 it was Honda's first 100 mph car but still allowing for 35 mpg. In April 1967 the car was described as the fastest production 1-litre car in the world thanks to its high revving engine (up to 10,000 rpm). Production ended in May 1970. EQUIPMENT Rubber mounted bodyshell, detachable chrome bumpers, padded dash, anti-dazzle instrument panel, fresh-air recirculating heating, electric windscreen washer, two-speed windscreen washer, laminated windscreen, headlamp flasher, automatic reversing lamps, lockable steering, glove-box and petrol cap, wood-rim steering wheel, external mirror, courtesy light, centre arm rest. EXTERIOR Finished in stunning Honda Silverstone Silver this rare marvel generates a fabulous reaction by all onlookers. A classic, timeless design with elegant proportions but purposeful sporting intentions. A wonderful polished shine graces the exterior which benefitted from a full body off restoration in 2000 and has only covered 5000 miles since. The chrome bumpers were removed from new to reduce weight for competitions and these remain with the car should the new owner wish to refit and return the original look. Always garaged but showing minor blisters to wing bottoms and a few paint blemishes. The separate structural chassis is perfect and there are no corrosion issues. Detailed photographs of all work carried out are included to reassure the new owner how sound and genuine this historic Honda is. INTERIOR Spectacular in every respect with supportive black leatherette seats in impeccable condition. The carpeting throughout is wear free, still with the neat outer stitching detail and the matching door cards are spotless. The grey headlining is tight and in remarkable condition. All the gauges operate with precision and have amazing clarity. The standard fit wood-rim steering wheel continues the theme of quality and remains undamaged. The courtesy light is inoperative and a later fit radio/cassette, although wired, has never had speakers fitted. An interior representative of the low miles covered. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION The jewel of a Honda S800 is the engine. A well maintained properly set up example is like no other experience and a must drive for all motoring enthusiasts. Double overhead camshafts, two twin-choke carburettors, needle-roller bearing crankshaft and an amazing 70bhp at 8000rpm all from 791cc! Incredibly, a consistent 35mpg is still being achieved while immense fun is being had! The 4-speed manual transmission shames modern offerings with short, precise and beautifully balanced changes time after time. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES Shortly after purchase upgraded Cosmic 13 X 4 1/2J alloy wheels were fitted and these are still retained in excellent condition shod in new AVON CR322 165/70 R13 tyres. The original factory fit steel rims and Honda chrome hubcaps are still included with Michelin XAS tyres. The front discs and finned rear drums offer consistent, safe stopping power. HISTORY FILE Supplied by Honda UK Agents, Haymill Motors Ltd on the 2nd May 1967 to a Mr Paul Barnes, a personal friend of the current owner who has known the car from new! The green Buff Registration Book is still retained showing a total of just three owners, all good friends! Used mainly by the first owner and current owner in competitive events with much success, this prime example has been cherished by him for nearly 40 years and has been impeccably maintained. Many period photos, trophies, rosettes remain as a reminder of great times. A fully documented and photographic restoration was carried out in 2000/01 and the mileage of just 67,901 is warranted. Many invoices and original booklets are included such as the Service Booklet, Workshop Manual and an original brochure from point of sale. In-car video of vintage race at Roebling Road in Savannah. I finished 3rd overall after finding a way past an MGB and a great race against a Datsun B210. There is also some very entertaining footage of a fast Mini Cooper leaving black streaks on the track as he slides through the corners.
