SOLD - MORE URGENTLY REQUIRED A tremendous pre-facelift, one owner from new Ford Capri 1600 with Custom Plan 'L' Pack. EQUIPMENT Chromed front and rear bumpers, rectangular sealed beam headlamp units with integral sidelights, chromium plated Exhaust trim, lockable fuel cap, dummy air scoops, heater/demister two speed fan, single speed windshield wipers, foot operated two jet windshield washers, padded sun visors, interior light, front package tray, interior bonnet release, front and rear ashtrays. EXTERIOR This stunning early Ford Capri is finished in Ford Red, (colour code BN), and has a deep glossy finish. This car stands very proud and attracts positive reactions everywhere. According to his son, the owner wanted a base 1600 for the design purity but opted for this vehicle to avoid the long waiting time! Fitted with the Custom Plan L Pack, (the exterior dress-up pack), he removed the bright metal trim and kept it boxed thus creating the look he desired! There are a few micro-blisters at the top of the passenger 'A' pillar. Repair sections have been professionally welded in the floor and inner rear wheel arches but it is structurally perfect and dry. The chrome is bright and in excellent order. The original front screen has some wiper arm markings. A stunning Capri. INTERIOR The slide-mounted, adjustable, bucket-style front seats are deep wide and beautifully sprung. They are in excellent condition with no tears or markings. The driving position is low with all the instrumentation clear and operational. An additional tachometer was fitted in 1973 and is a beautiful period accessory in full working order. There are no cracks in the fragile dash top and the heater fan is functioning. The original black carpeting is a little worn in places but still very presentable. The out-of-sight 'lights on' rocker switch has been replaced and a period wooden Mountney steering wheel fitted. The original item still boxed to return to standard if required. The door cards and roof lining are all in excellent order with a few tiny nicks. Delightful, retro and comfortable. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION The famous 1600 Kent engine is still fitted to this original Capri and is strong, well maintained and responsive. Offering 75 bhp and a top speed of 93mph it has a clean crisp Exhaust note and is brilliant fun. Simple mechanics and excellent parts availability ensure cost effective running costs for the novice classic car owner. The short, remote floor shift offers slick changing through the superb 4-speed all-synchromesh gearbox and the diaphragm spring clutch is light and progressive. Wonderful. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES Shortly after purchase the owner invested in the now highly desirable 5 ½ X 13 Shelby Cal 500 Slot Mag Alloy Wheels. These are immaculate and the invoice in the history file from John Brown Wheels revealed these cost £80 new! Decent tyres and ample tread with strong brakes offer safe handling. HISTORY FILE This vehicle was purchased new by George Hall on the 1st January 1970 and supplied by Ford Agents, Perry's of Southend. All the original documents are supplied with the car including the green Buff Style Log Book, Capri Owner Handbook, Capri Food Service Booklet and even the manufacturers build specification sheet! The careful owner has kept every MOT from the first in 1973! On passing away the vehicle was transferred to his son in May 2012, a Mr James Hall. All spare keys remain present, an original Ford Capri Brochure is included in the sale and 12 Months MOT. The vehicle is tax exempt and is HPI clear.

The Capri Mk III was referred to internally as "Project Carla", and although little more than a substantial update of the Capri II, it was often referred to as the Mk III. The first cars were available in March 1978, but failed to halt a terminal decline in sales. The concept of a heavily facelifted Capri II was shown at the 1976 Geneva show: a Capri II with a front very similar to the Escort RS2000 (with four headlamps and black slatted grille), and with a rear spoiler, essentially previewed the model some time before launch. The Mk III featured improved aerodynamics, leading to improved performance and economy over the Mk II and the trademark quad headlamps were introduced. At launch the existing engine and transmission combinations of the Capri II were carried over, with the 3.0 S model regarded as the most desirable model although in truth the softer, Ghia derivative with automatic rather than manual transmission the bigger seller of the two V6-engined models.

Zakspeed Ford Turbo Capri
Zakspeed Ford turbo Capri beim AvD Oldtimer GP 2012 auf dem Nürburgring. Peter Zakowski fährt das Original Meisterschaftsauto von 1981, mit dem Klaus Ludwig damals gewann. Das Fahrzeug ist mit dem kleinen Motor der Division 2 bestückt mit 1,4l Hubraum. In beiden Rennen sah Zakowski die Zielflagge wegen technischer Probleme nicht. Im Rennen 1 bedrängt er Oliver Mathai im Porsche 935 und im Rennen 2 räumt er binnen kürzester Zeit das Feld von hinten auf. Sowohl nach dem Training als auch nach dem ersten Rennen wurde am Fahrzeug umfangreich gearbeitet. Der Ladedruck ist noch nicht eingestellt und deshalb hat P.Zakowski die Hand häufiger mal am "Dampfrad". Vom turbo Capri wurden insgesamt fünf Fahrzeuge gebaut. Ein Fahrzeug wurde zerstört, eines zu einem Mustang umgebaut, ein Fahrzeug wurde von Herbert Stenger bei Bergrennen eingesetzt, ein Fahrzeug baut Stefan Mücke in Berlin wieder auf und hier eben das 1981er Meisterschaftsauto bei Zakspeed. onboard race1 at 05:35 onboard race 2 at 12:14
