The Goodwood Revival is a three-day festival held each September since 1995
for the types of road racing cars and motorcycle that would have competed
during the circuit's original period—1948--1966. It is one of the world's
most popular motor race meetings and the only UK event which recreates the
golden era of motor sport from the 1950s and 1960s. The festival acts as a
showcase for exceptional wheel-to-wheel racing around a classic circuit,
untouched by the modern world and relives the glory days of Goodwood Motor
Racing Circuit, which ranked alongside Silverstone as Britain's leading
racing venue throughout its active years. Between 1948 and 1966 Goodwood
hosted contemporary racing of all kinds, including Formula One, the famous
Goodwood Nine Hours race and the celebrated Tourist Trophy sports car race.
The festival includes Grand Prix cars from the Fifties and Sixties, sports
and GT cars, as well as historic saloon cars and little-seen Formula
Juniors. Many of these important historic racing cars are driven by famous
names from motor sport past and present. Famous drivers who have taken part
include: Sir Stirling Moss, John Surtees, Sir Jack Brabham, Phil Hill,
Derek Bell, David Coulthard, Damon Hill, Gerhard Berger, Bobby Rahal,
Johnny Herbert, Wayne Gardner, Giacomo Agostini, Rowan Atkinson (as Mr.
Bean), and the late Barry Sheene and Peter Brock.
The restored circuit is unchanged from its heyday and many visitors wear
appropriate period clothing and no modern vehicles are allowed within the
circuit perimeter throughout the weekend (except modern race fire and
rescue vehicles). There are also theatrical sets that bring the past
back to life including many historic aircraft.
Lola T70 Spyder @ Goodwood Revival 2014
It was a wonderful race. I started in 4th and ended in 5th. I had pretty
good fights with the top drivers but after hitting the chicane, I slowed my
pace because i had a lot of understeer. Overall I think it was a pretty
good result considering the drivers and the fact that it was the second
time i was in Goodwood and the first time driving the Lola in this circuit.
Foi uma corrida fantástica. Comecei em quarto e terminei em quinto. Tive
dirigindo o Lola neste circuito.
Mercedes-Benz at the Goodwood Revival 2012
Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union racers from the 1930s took to the track for
the first time at the Goodwood Revival between 14 and 16 September, some 75
years after the Silver Arrows first appeared in the UK.
All the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows that appeared at the Goodwood Revival
are original cars -- each with extensive racing history behind them. They
were driven by ex-DTM driver Roland Asch, Le Mans winner Jochen Mass,
five-times DTM champion Bernd Schneider, three-time Formula One World
Champion Sir Jackie Stewart and his son, ex-F3000 racer and team manager
Among the cars that appeared were the W 25 (1934), the W 125 (1937), a W
154 (1939) and a W 165 (1939). Power outputs range from the 254 hp of the
1.5-litre V8 W 165 to the 600 hp achieved by the mighty W 125. All were by
far the most advanced machines of their kind with innovative suspension and
drivetrains meaning they were highly successful and effective racing
