CvdZijden records this amazing Mclaren F1 GTR at the Nurburgring last week! It is one of my favorite Le Mans car also with the Sauber Mercedes C9/C11, unfortunately that car was not present that day! The Mclaren F1 GTR did alot of laps on the circuit, but after one lap he came in. Because there were 2 seats in this car, so some lucky people get a ride in this machine!! The sound is just fantastic, never expected that!! This car has not a Mclaren engine but a BMW engine and this car cost over the 2.000.000 euro!!! Le Mans Tragedy - Killed 81 spectators (1955) - The 24 Hours of Le Mans (French: 24 Heures du Mans) is the world's oldest sports car race in endurance racing, held annually since 1923 near the town of Le Mans, France. Commonly known as the Grand Prix of Endurance and Efficiency, race teams have to balance speed against the cars' ability to run for 24 hours without sustaining mechanical damage to the car and manage the cars' consumables, primarily fuel, tyres and braking materials. The endurance of the drivers is likewise tested as drivers frequently spend stints of over two hours behind the wheel before stopping in the pits and allowing a relief driver to take over the driving duties. Drivers then grab what food and rest as they can before returning to drive another stint. F1 - 1967 Monaco GP - Lorenzo Bandini fatal crash
In May 1967 Bandini was racing at the Monaco Grand Prix, running second to Denny Hulme on the 82nd lap, when he lost control of his car at the harbour chicane. He had just entered an S-turn when his Ferrari's left rear wheel hit the guard rail, sending him into an erratic skid. It impacted a light pole and overturned. The car hit straw bales which lined the harbour side, rupturing the fuel tank, and sparks ignited the fuel as the car rolled over, with Bandini trapped beneath it. Marshals flipped his car upright and pulled Bandini, unconscious, out from the flaming Ferrari. It is thought that, during the effort to right the overturned car, gasoline leaked on the hot brake line or the Exhaust pipe and exploded. A second fire occurred when the gas tank exploded after Bandini had been pulled away from the Ferrari. Bandini's burns were extensive, with third degree burns covering more than 70% of his body. The worst burns were on his arms and legs with slight burns on his face. Doctors were forced to wait for twenty-four to forty-eight hours before resolving to move Bandini to a hospital in Lyon, France, which specialized in the treatment of burns. Other options considered, by the doctors, were flying in skin grafts from Italy or a specialist burns unit team from East Grinstead in England. The burns caused severe lesions. He also sustained a chest wound and ten chest fractures. Three days later, Bandini succumbed to his injuries. He died at Princess Grace Polyclinic Hospital in Monte Carlo. There were concerns about the promptness of Bandini's rescue. However, investigators from the Principality of Monaco ruled on 10 May "that the security operation had functioned properly." The straw bales, having been banned from all Formula 1 races in response to the accident, were replaced by an extended guard-rail the following year. Bandini was buried in Reggiolo on 13 May. 100,000 people attended the funeral.

Rennen "Trans-Atlantic Prototype Challenge" im Programm vom Spa Six Hours 2011. Ralf Kelleners im McLaren F1 GTR von 1997 steht zwar auf Pole Position muß sich aber zunächst den CanAm Raketen der frühen Siebziger Jahre wie dem McLaren M8F geschlagen geben. Es geht doch nichts über 8,8l Hubraum. Das Rennen gewann Kelleners nach 14Runden mit 16Sekunden Vorsprung vor dem McLaren M8F von Peter Hoffmann, dessen schnellste Rennrunde war nur 1,3Sekunden langsamer als die des F1GTR.
