How to Remove Stubborn Toyota 20R - 22R - 22RE Crankshaft Pulley Bolt 1979 - 1995
A long (but detailed) video on the tips and tricks I've learned over the years on how to remove stubborn crankshaft pulley bolts on Toyota 22R series engines. (22R 22RE 22RET) By far, the best way would be to have the SST (shop specific tool) that Toyota recommends, but not many folks (me included) has one of those in their garage. This is a video of some of the tips and tricks that I've learned over the years on getting this sometimes EXTREMELY stubborn bolt to come out. The most common reason that you need to be able to get this bolt out is so that you can access the front main seal on the front end of the crankshaft. Most older Toyotas develope an oil leak through the seal. Oil works past the worn-out seal and then gets flung around the front of the engine and engine bay by the crankshaft pulleys. It's really a pretty easy fix for a very messy problem...if you can get the crankshaft pulley bolt off in order to access the seal.

Does Lacquer Thinner Clean Catalytic Converters? -EricTheCarGuy
Link to Scotty Kilmer's Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5icTmYItwiE After watching Scotty's video I was curious if it would actually work. Since we know from my video on diagnosing catalytic converters that the catalytic converters in my Subaru were bad, I though it was a perfect opportunity to try out this theory. I used about 1 quart of lacquer thinner to about 7 gallons of gas. I drove a total of 200 miles and tested the converters. The testing showed a very slight improvement but nothing that I would call significant. It was worth a try. I can say that I did not notice any issues with drivability during or after the test. It may not have fixed the problem, but it didn't seem to cause any other problems either. I feel the check engine light that came on was just a coincidence and not the result of putting lacquer thinner in the gas tank. Here's some useful links for you. Stubborn Crank Pulley Bolt Removal Procedure - 2 Methods Pick Your Weapon!
How to loosen a difficult crankshaft pulley harmonic balancer bolt. The first method uses the power of the starter motor, and the second method uses the force of the rolling vehicle. Be sure to disconnect the main coil wire before attempting, because you DO NOT want the car to start when doing this! This was done on a Ford Taurus but should work on many vehicles. The rolling method only works on cars with a manual transmission. Both methods work best on front wheel drive cars.
