9 Second Buick GSX Stage2 GS Stage1 9.51 @ 140
We originally built this car with Frank Urbinati back in 1996.It debuted at the GS Nationals where it won the GS Pro Street class races. It was also the 1st GS Pro Street class car to break into the 9's at the time. Thanks to Frank this project came to life. Fast forward to 2010 and the car has been taken over by Bob Ortolani, the car still looks great and Bob decided to bring it up another level. We were happy to have the car come back to our shop and to have the opportunity to work with Bob and put together the new powerplant. The video shows the results of our 1st day out to tune the engine. The 1st two passes were shakedowns to check fuel/oil pressures and get a feel for the new combo. By the 3rd run we had posted a 9.62 @ 138 hitting the 7100rpm rev limiter chip! The 4th run was a 9.52 @ 140. On the 5th run it went 9.51 @ 140.65! After a good cool down and a timing adjustment we were ready to try for a 9.40 run, launching right off idle the car gave us a nice big unexpected wheelie! The wheelie sure lookes cool but we know we can go quicker with a little more suspension work to straighten out the launch and try to keep the front down. We're sure it'll go into the 9.40's yet and maybe even 30's after everything is worked out.

134023 / 1970 Buick GSX
For more information on this vehicle visit http://tinyurl.com/cweedua
In 1970 Buick introduced the GSX as their answer to Pontiac's GTO Judge and Chevrolet's Chevelle SS454. Modestly rated at 360hp and 510 ft./lb. of torque, the GSX Stage 1 was described as a more luxurious HEMI 'Cuda because of its lighter weight and amazing power. In 2002, this particular example won a Senior Award from the Buick Club of America and the 'A' Body of The Year award at the Buick Nationals. In 2010 it racked up Concours Gold awards at both the Buick Performance Group Nationals and GS Nationals.
Literally every nut and bolt on this GSX Stage 1 has been replaced to factory standards and showroom shine to ensure that it gets the most points possible from any discerning judge. Every weld and gap is perfect making for excellent panel fit and functionality giving this Buick a menacing, yet luxurious appearance. Chrome bumpers, door handles and window trim add an element of class and luxury. The combination of black, white and chrome is complemented by small splashes of color like the rear GSX decals and red pin stripping around the GSX side stripe. Red, white and blue Buick tri-shield center caps are bolted to GSX specific chrome trimmed 15 inch Rallye wheels. Those stylish Rallye wheels are wrapped in reproduction Super Wide Oval tires as if the car had just left the factory.
Buick's mighty 455 big block V8 was one of the first motors to utilize thin wall casting and as a result is lighter than a comparable Chevrolet 454. Take one look under the hood at the numbers matching 455 and you'll see why this GSX is a gold winning car. Everything from the battery to the decals has been restored to showroom quality and nothing less than best of show. This particular GSX was up fitted from the factory with the Stage 1 performance package which added a hotter cam, bigger valves, low restriction Exhaust and revised jets in the Rochester Quadra-Jet carburetor. The result is an unpublished rating of 425hp and a ride that you'll never forget.
This GSX also features Buick's Rallye Ride Control Package which includes a rear stabilizer bar, firmer front and rear shocks, rear firm ride springs and rear lower control arm assemblies. Connecting that massive power with this enhanced driving system is a factory option, numbers matching close-ratio 4-speed transmission. Equipped in only 188 Buick GSX's for 1970, that transmission sends the torque to the ground via 3.64 gears in a numbers matching high performance Buick Posi-Traction rear axle. At the front corners, factory power assisted discs and at the rear corners, factory power assisted drums bring everything to a stop. The guys at Then and Now topped off the restoration with a new fuel tank, new fuel lines, new brake lines, new body mounts and a fresh GM black undercoating.
This sale includes documentation from the GSX Historic Society showing the car to be GSX number 622 of 678 produced for 1970. Also included are Concours gold plaques from the GS Nationals and Buick Performance Group Nationals as well as the Buick Club of America gold medal, affixed to the grille of the car, signifying senior award status. The car features a numbers matching 455 V8, a numbers matching 4 speed close ratio transmission and a numbers matching 3.64 high performance rear end. It is one of 178 Apollo White cars produced and one of 188 cars equipped with the manual transmission.
Even after 40 years the interior of the GSX still feels luxurious and comfortable. The gauge cluster consists of a clock and brightwork set against wood grain texture. The seats and door panels feature upgraded vinyl, adding to the fresh feeling created by the nicer GSX dash.
This gorgeous GSX has the hardware to satisfy your wants and the class to fulfill your needs. It has enough power under its hood, luxury behind its doors and trophies under its belt to make any car guy happy. The sale includes concours gold plaques from the GS Nationals and Buick Performance Group Nationals and documentation from the GSX Historic Society. Call today for a chance to own this award winning car!
1970 Buick GS STK # 970
Buick sent this 1971 GS out to the streets to win the muscle car war. Under the hood is a 350ci V8 with 4bbl carburetor mated to a 3 speed automatic transmission column shift with a 3.08 rear gear. Inside is a sandlewood bench seat and interior. Treat yourself to air conditioning, tilt wheel, power steering, power brakes and AM/FM radio. This car is a numbers matching car. 1970 Buick GSX "The Hemi Killer"
Here is the Holy Grail of the GM/Buick Musclecars and is better known as the Hemi killer. Truly one of the fastest, and rarest, musclecars of all time. Meet the beautiful 1970 Buick GSX Stage I. Largest torque rating of all 1970 cars at 510 lb/ft and a grossly underrated horsepower of 360. These cars were scary fast right off the showroom floor and few cars of the era came close to them at the strip. This desirable Saturn Yellow example has been restored from the ground up and is in period-correct, pristine condition. It has been restored according to factory specs and is currently optioned just like it was in 1970. Full numbers-matching drivetrain. This car also has won the Buick Nationals on several occasions and has done so as recently as 2007. It is unbelievably documented. We're talking Protecto-Plate, Original Framed Sales Invoice, build sheet, and a broadcast sheet that was found under the carpet. Also comes with all the original dealer paperwork and a lot of ownership history. A true southerner, it was sold new in Atlanta, GA on May 12, 1970. The buyer traded in a 1969 Buick Riviera and drove out in this musclecar legend. Only around 400 GSX Stage I's were ever produced. Own a piece of American history. They don't build them like this anymore! For more details call us at toll free (866)542-8392 or (704)598-2130.
