Ford Excursion 24 valve Cummins turbo Diesel engine swap
2003 Ford Excursion with 24 valve Cummins turbo Diesel. My dad did this swap 15000 trouble free miles ago. It was a long difficult swap that was done right from start to finish. Not these hack jobs you see on ebay. This started out as an Eddie Bower V-10 2 wheel drive. The V-10 was bad and this truck and it only had 103000 miles. I sourced a 24 valve cummins engine with only 70000 miles on it. The fuel system was converted with all new hose with an airdog system sending bubble free fuel up to the brand new injection pump. New injectors and new turbo. The fordcummins.com swap kit and some new hoses and new OEM Intercooler and tranny cooler later this truck was almost finished. The power puck was added and the cummins computer reflashed. Compushit shift computer was added. AC lines welded and system charged. Front leveling kit, new shocks and new wheels/tires. Pillar guages keep me informed of the Boost and temps. I pull a 30ft boat weighing 10000 lbs once in a while. This truck pulls it like there is nothing back there. If the damn boat cover wouldn't blow off at speeds over 75mph I could cruise 80-85mph no problem.
Maiden Voyage of 1940 Ford COE 4BT Cummins
Had a goal months ago to make the car show in Fairfield, IL on May 28, 2011. Started the engine for the first time that very morning after a hasty trip to the parts store. Rear brakes were grabbing on the test drive. Decided to go anyway at the last minute. Made the show, truck was a hit and had a great time.

Used a 94 f700 as a donor vehicle and put the 5.9 cummins diesel into a 56 ford f600. used a fuller fs 5306 6 sp trans. out of a 95 f750, 3.31 ratio dana 80 rear end out of a 99 freightliner. The truck is geared to cruise at 1800rpm at 62 mph with the aux. trans in direct.
Engine Blow up at school
This is what happens when you don't tighten the cam shaft bolts to specs. We took the engine apart and all of the valves needed to be replaced because they were bent. The top of the pistons all had the indentation from the Exhaust and intake valves.

This engine and its twin were built by my father. He installed them in his 33' Bertram. That is a boat, which would explain the water coming out the Exhaust to somebody who knows anything about marine engines. Sorry about all the cranking. I meant to cut out a large section of that, but somehow I forgot about it. Thanks for watching. Ignorant questions and comments will be ignored.
