Produced at GMs Norwood, Ohio assembly plant and delivered to Barnett Pontiac in Dearborn, Michigan, this meticulously maintained 1980 Trans Am turbo Pace Car is one of the cleanest survivor second generation F-bodies we've ever offered. Thanks to three decades of loving owners and a little bit of good luck, its original body panels present extremely well and still carry that highly desirable showroom fresh fit and finish. On top of those 100% original body panels, a smooth and subdued coat of GM code 11 Cameo White combines with an original set of tri-color outlining stripes and a great looking five color 'turbo bird' hood decal to create a classic muscle car look which is out of this world! Under this Trans Ams "turbo" stamped hood you'll find an all original Pontiac code YL turbocharged 301 V8 that made substantially more twist than the mighty 6.6 liter it replaced while being significantly more efficient. Originally conceived as an economy offering, the Pontiac 301 was beefed up with a better block design, thicker gaskets, lower compression pistons, a mild camshaft, a rolled fillet crank, a fully baffled oil pan, a unique single plane intake and an electronic spark controller in preparation for a Garrett TBO-305 turbocharger. Once the turbo was installed, it created a waste limited 9 PSI of Boost and helped the reborn 301 achieve 236 horsepower and a serious 345 lb./ft. of torque. Underneath this Trans Am, a clean 31 year old undercarriage tells the story of excellent caretaking with great looking floor pans that are as solid as when they left the factory and a correctly tagged Safe-T-Trac rear end that still maintains its factory 3.08 gears. Behind the motor, the cars original tough and proven turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed automatic transmission sends power to an original 10 bolt rear axle, and a standard WS6 handling package. For 1980, the WS6 package included larger sway bars, better shocks and springs, a tighter steering gear box and newly designed power front and rear disc brakes that, when combined with the cars standard power steering, made for serious handling ability and greatly reduced stopping distances. In the middle of the floor pans, the cars original dual Exhaust system carries spent gases past a fresh stainless fuel tank, and all of the cars hardware and bushings appear to be in good working order. Power flows to the pavement through ORIGINAL 225/70 white letter Goodyear Polysteel radials that are mounted to exclusive 15 inch 'turbo' style body matched aluminum wheels which feature slick machined edges and pristine plastic center caps. Inside this Trans Am, a fully equipped Oyster interior features optional doeskin vinyl with hobnail cloth inserts which create a sophisticated appearance that builds on 1980s increasing list of luxury options. The firm and comfortable seats are nicely patterned pieces that feel every bit as comfortable as they look, and the original brown carpet shows very little wear. Between the seats, a clean gray console houses chrome switches for the cars power windows behind an engine turned shift plate, and above the seats, a stain free headliner is stretched tight around the cars mirrored tops. In front of the driver, an excellent looking engine turned dash houses crystal clear gauges above controls for heat and air conditioning and the cars exclusive Delco-GM seek/scan stereo cassette player. At the sides of the seats, excellent Oyster door panels that feature bright 'turbo bird' embroidery are detailed in pristine stainless trim and chrome door handles and door lock buttons. I thought you might like a look at this extremely nice 1989 Pontiac turbo Trans Am. This beast is powered by a slightly modified version of the 3.8 turbo V6 from the Buick Grand National. All that power is sent through a 200-4R automatic trans, back to a Borg Warner 9 Bolt Rear with 3.27 Posi gears. It also has four-wheel disc brakes, performance suspension, and gold laced wheels with Kumho tires. This car has only covered 29,xxx miles since new and it really looks incredible. Thanks to three decades of exceptional maintenance and a little cosmetic T.L.C. from RK Motors Charlotte's first rate restoration shop, the car presents as well today as it did it when it rolled off the showroom floor over 30 years ago. A bright and crisp coat of correct GM code 11 Cameo White covers 100% original body panels which are straight, rock solid and free of waves and major imperfections. Because this Trans Am has never been fully disassembled, it still displays completely accurate panel gaps that are surprisingly tight and provide the car with great panel fitment and correct factory alignment. On top of the ghost white panels, a fresh set of tri-color outlining stripes perfectly complements a five color 'turbo bird' hood decal and factory applied Indianapolis 500 Pace Car door stickers to complete the look. Below the turbo, a YL 301 specific Rochester Quadrajet M4ME 800 CFM carburetor sits in front of an original HEI distributor which sends power to the cylinders through blue Belden Edge plug wires. For more information on this vehicle visit http://tinyurl.com/bmsk3es This spectacular, 100% numbers matching 1970½ Trans Am Ram Air IV is one of only 59 built with a 4-speed, and fully documented with a build sheet. A life-long west coast car, this was one of only 24 RA IV cars built at the Van Nuys assembly plant. Gaps are exemplary, panel fit is very good, and this might be the most well assembled early F-body I've ever seen. The Polar White paint matches the factory finish exactly, and the decals are reproductions. Out back, the ducktail spoiler fits beautifully and carries the correct TRANS AM insignia. Simply selecting RPO 342 got you the famed 370-horsepower round-port Ram Air IV engine, which delivered much more than simply an advertised 25 hp over the standard D-port Ram Air III engine. Atop that intake and under the solenoid-operated scoop, the Rochester Quadrajet carburetor makes its home. The cylinder heads are 614 castings, the block is a correct WW unit, the intake is a correct 97999 casting, and the unique Ram Air IV Exhaust manifolds have been beautifully refinished. The Muncie M20 4-speed manual is the original, matching numbers piece, while out back, the RA IV was the only Firebird to receive a 12-bolt rear end as standard equipment (this one is packed with 3.73 gears and a Posi for explosive acceleration). The heavy-duty power disc brakes have been fully rebuilt, and correct F41-spec shocks are at all four corners. It's finished off with a set of original date-coded Rally II wheels and Firestone Wide Ovals. This one sports its original code 211 Medium Bright Blue Vinyl interior. The seats and door panels have been reconditioned and re-dyed, but the carpets are spectacularly original, as is the headliner. The trunk features that fitted floor mat, as well as a full-sized spare tire with complete jack assembly.
