Troy Lee Designed Livery For Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 RSR - 24 Heures Du Mans 2011
ICONOGRAPHY STUDIOS WRAPS THE FLYING LIZARD SPECIAL LIVERY FOR THE TEAM'S FIRST TWO-PORSCHE LE MANS RACE IN FRANCE ON JUNE 11, 2011 Iconography teams up in joint project with artist Troy Lee to produce the Flying Lizard commemorative livery for the No. 80 and No. 81 Flying Lizard Porsches for the 2011 24 Heures du Mans. Los Alamitos, CA (June 7, 2011) -- Created by California-based artist Troy Lee and wrapped by Iconography Studios, the livery celebrates the history of Porsche at LeMans, featuring the 28 drivers who have won the 24 Heures du Mans overall in a Porsche. The No. 80 and No. 81 designs are identical, implemented in complementary colors: candy metallic orange for the No. 80 and candy metallic blue for the No. 81; both anchored by a deep ocean blue. Primary colors provide a backdrop for the driver names and flags which weave throughout the design on the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. Troy Lee's concepts were derived from each of the driver's country flags, using vibrant colors to bring the designs to life in 3D. Showing off the depth and movement of the amazing cars, while maintaining the integrity of the Porsche design, was their biggest challenge. "We worked hand and hand with Troy and his team," said James Naccarato, Owner of Iconography Studios. "They created the concept and design with Flying Lizard and we brought it to life on the Porsches with the help of our top of the line Roland printer machines." "A crucial part of this project was getting the right paint: We worked extensively with PPG Industries to develop these custom colors, both for their liveliness and for the depth of the metallic colors. Using the candy paint as a base, we then created the intricate backdrop of asymmetric shapes to balance the design and create the sense of speed," said Lee. Flying Lizard initiated the project with Troy Lee in late 2010. "We worked with Troy's team for several months to finalize the concept and design. The livery is a combination of candy paint overlaid with vinyl. The vinyl was custom-tailored to each Porsche and applied at our shop in Sonoma by Iconography Studios," described Flying Lizard VP of Marketing Jennifer Hart. Behind the scene of Le Mans 2012
Mazda Motorsports announced that it will sell racing versions of its new SKYACTIV-D CLEAN DIESEL engines to teams competing in the Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) class of racing's greatest endurance challenge - the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Le Mans engine program will make its debut at the 2013 running of the race. Mazda was the first - and to this day, remains the only - Asian manufacturer to score an overall win at the race, in 1991.

Porsche Macan Turbo vs Cayman GTS - is the SUV a sports car on stilts?
We pit two very different cars from Porsche's range against each other in one of our famous track battles! Which comes out on top? Subscribe to our YouTube channel http://bit.ly/11Ad1j1 Subscribe to the mag http://subscribe.autoexpress.co.uk/yt Porsche's range is bigger than ever, and we're testing two of the newest and most exciting models - the Macan turbo and Cayman GTS. The cars couldn't be more different - the Macan a sports SUV, whereas the Cayman GTS is a more powerful version of the Cayman S. They both cost under £60,000, but how different are they on track? The Cayman GTS has 340bhp and 380NM of torque. It'll hit 60mph in 4.6 seconds and weighs just 1,345kg. When it comes to price, it's going to set you back just over £55,000. The Macan turbo has 400bhp and 550NM of torque, but it tips the scales at 1,925kg and will cost you just over £59,000, but it'll still hit 60mph in just 4.8 seconds. The Cayman GTS is an absolute delight to drive around a circuit and set an impressive lap time of 1:10.5 seconds. That's 1.2 seconds faster than a Cayman S. How does the Macan turbo compare? The end result wasn't much of a surprise - the Cayman showed a clean pair of heels to the Macan around the test track, but there's more to these cars than racing against a stopwatch. The Cayman GTS is simply one of the finest cars I've ever driven on a circuit. It's beautifully balanced and an absolute joy to drive. The Macan isn't as at its best when it's chasing a lap time, but it's got lots of grip and a very smooth, powerful and refined engine, and it's one of the best sports SUVs you can buy. So, in our minds, both of these Porsches are winners.

1100HP Porsche runs sequential gearbox Evo IX on the street!
We are happy to see the infamous Evo IX is finally out ready to play after it's transmission upgrade! The Evo normally runs around ~55psi, but now it is running 45psi while testing the new Drenth sequential transmission. This Porsche 911 turbo is no joke! It has run 9.4@156mph in the 1/4 mile and makes over 1100whp. This is not a PDK trans in the Porsche, but the factory auto that has been beefed up in to handle the power. Can't wait to see what happens when the Evo is turned up to it's normal 55psi on that FP Super 94! Check out our new iOS app for iPhone! - https://appsto.re/us/DYjf2.i Android version is still in development.

How to Remove the Roof of a Porsche 918 Spyder
Don't you love to learn about something you'll never need to do in your life? Well whether it's that or because you've got a Porsche 918 Spyder being delivered soon, here's a walk-thru of the process to remove the roof panels on the car and stow them away in the bonnet. I allow no modifications of my work without permission. I call it the 2013 Porsche 918-LH Spyder (GT1). I chose 918-LH because the model number 918, is reminiscent of 917, (hence the 8), so I decided to add a reminiscent LH model number. Since the 918-LH wouldnt be able to race in the same class the 917 did (that class is non-existent), Porsche may decide to place it in the GT1 class. The 918 Spyder comes with 2 electric motors, and a 500hp V8 from the RS Spyder LMP-2 car. The 918-LH Spyder will drop the electric motors, but will retain the KERS, and 500hp V8. Since GT1 regulates no more than 600hp, Porsche may remove air-restrictors from the engine to Boost the output to 600hp. The 918-LH Spyder will top out in the 200mph range, and will reach 62mph in less than 3.0 seconds, possibly 2.8 seconds. The weight will be around 1,240 kilos, 2,730 lbs. The weight loss will come from the loss of the batteries, stripped interior and loss of amenities, even more extensive use of carbon fiber, and a reconstruction of body-work. Changes in the body work will come from a wider track, redesigned front and rear diffusers, as well as a fixed hard-top roof. There will be a very large rear spoiler; the current one will be fixed. The ram air scoops positioned over the 600hp V8 will be permanently opened for even more delivery of power. The 918-LH Spyders headlight system will receive a minor revision as well as the taillights. It will also get new mirrors positioned over the front-wheels straight from the Carrera GT. If the 918-LH Spyder does become a reality, it will likely debut at the 2013 24hrs of Le Mans, as well as in the Le Mans Series. As well as rendered bodywork, I also took the time took the time to render several liveries reminiscent of 70s 917 designs. I currently have a few rendered, one also for "TeamSpeed.com", I'm working on a few now, and will post them later. *Note; All vehicles are liveried according to 2013 speculated Le Mans 24 specification.
