VW Golf MK4 Bumper Removal.

I wasn't involved in the creation of this video whatsoever. However I found it very useful when I had to remove my bumper to change a blown headlight-bulb, so have decided to give it wider viewing accessibility on YouTube. I realise there is at least one other how-to about MK4 bumper removal on YouTube but this is just an extra source of useful information. Thanks to the original source / maker for this video how-to. Good work.

DIY: Volkswagen Headlight Switch Removal
Video tutorial on how to remove the headlight switch on a VW Golf, Jetta, Bora, Beetle, Passat, and well as other VW models. This procedure also applies to some Audi and Porsche models as well. Even thought this switch was common on VW MK4 models, it's found on other generations as well, but instead of a round switch they are rectangular. This applied to both the headlight switch with and without fog lights. No tools are needed to remove the switch assembly. If you are wondering why this car is not equipped with fog lights, this is a North American car. This particular tutorial was done on a 2004 Volkswagen Golf. Be sure to check out my website at http://4diyers.com Tools/Supplies Needed: -none Procedure: -ensure that the switch is in the off position -push center of switch inward -while pushed in, rotate the switch portion clockwise -the switch portion should rotate clockwise to approximately the "on" position -it is perfectly normal that the lights turn on in the process -then pull straight out -turn the switch back to the "off" position or counter clockwise -the lights will then turn off -ensure the lights are off, as this reduces the chance of the contacts arcing when the electrical connector is removed -finally remove the electrical connector, there will be tabs on each side of the plug which need to be depressed -installation in reverse -when installing, ensure the switch is in the removal position so the tabs are retracted and it doesn't catch up on the outer casing when being pushed back into position Thank you to all those who watch my videos and support my content. DIY: Volkswagen MKIV Dash Vent Removal
Video tutorial on how to remove the interior dashboard vents in a VW MK4 Golf. This tutorial includes the driver side, passenger side and center HVAC vents. In order to remove the dash vents on a Jetta or Bora MK4, it takes a slightly different procedure. This procedure can be used in order to replace/repair the vent, cleaning purposes, if you're thinking about making any modifications, or upgrading your Golf style vents. Also included is how to remove the headlight switch, dimmer switch, hazard light switch, rear window defroster switch, and false switch caps. This particular tutorial was done on a 2004 Volkswagen Golf. Be sure to check out my website at http://4diyers.com Tools/Supplies Needed: -flat (standard) screwdriver -electrical tape -T20 torx screwdriver Procedure: -first start by removing the driver and center movable vents by using a flat (standard) screwdriver with electrical tape wrapped on the tip prying them out -next remove the headlight switch by pushing the button in, then rotating clockwise, and pulling straight out -disconnect the electrical connector on the headlight switch -to remove the dimmer switch, using a flat (standard) screwdriver, slowly pry around the outer edge of the switch and work it out -once removed, disconnect the electrical connector from the rear -now remove the vent by pulling while wiggling out -you maybe able to grab that tang and pull back in order to make the vent removal easier -remove the two T20 torx screws from the driver side vent -one screw is by the duct opening and the other is behind the headlight switch location -moving onto the center vent, remove the two T20 torx screws which were behind the vent diffusers -pull out vent assembly and disconnect any electrical connectors for switch where necessary -some vehicles are equipped with headed seats or traction control, but rear window defroster and hazard lights are standard -switches in center vent assembly are easiest to be removed once the vent is remove, that way you can gain access from behind -to remove the passenger vent, it is not required to remove the diffuser -tilt the diffuser, grab onto it and then wiggle the vent and pull straight back -installation in reverse Thank you to all those who watch my videos and support my content. DIY: Volkswagen MKIV Antenna Removal & Repair
Video tutorial on how to remove the radio antenna from a Volkswagen Golf MK4 and repair on a budget. As for removing the antenna from a Jetta or Bora MK4, the procedure it slightly different to gain access to the antenna nut. This antenna can be replaced either with an OEM unit or a shark fine rather than repairing the existing assembly. After a while, the moisture does penetrate the internals and will corrode the electronics, which in turn prevents the Booster in the antenna from working correctly. This will eventually give your radio poor reception. After this repair the antenna worked excellent and I put about 100,000km on the car until I decided to sell it. This particular tutorial was done on a 2004 Volkswagen Golf. Be sure to check out my website at http://4diyers.com Tools/Supplies Needed: -trim removal tool -flat (standard) screwdriver -phillips screwdriver -3/8" ratchet -22mm socket -pliers -solder -solder gun -short piece of 18 gauge wire -silicon Procedure: -remove the plastic trim at the rear of the headliner where the hatch opening is, can be done by hand or with a trim removal tool -there will be 5 clips in total that need to be disconnect along the center of the trim -remove the center retaining clip from under that plastic trim which holds in the rear of the headliner up using a flat (standard) screwdriver or trim removal tool -move seat belt height adjusters all the way down on the rear pillars -pull back the pillar trim, there will be four clips on each side to disconnect -remove the antenna assembly by removing the large 22mm nut on the underside of the roof -unclip the wiring -disconnect the antenna wire -moving onto the antenna repair, try removing the two phillips screws -open up the assembly and clean out any of the corrosion -if the circuit board is not functions, break it out -solder a wire from the base plate to the end cap, 18 gauge should be sufficient for the job -apply silicon to the inside of the antenna, ensure that the whole unit is sealed up so moisture cannot penetrate the inside -allow for the silicon to harden -if corrosion is found on the antenna connection, clean it accordingly -apply some dielectric grease so it prevents from further corrosion -installation in reverse Thank you to all those who watch my videos and support my content.
