Mocht een wiel gaan slippen dan neemt ESP actie. Het systeem remt op één of meer wielen en neemt gas terug indien nodig. Hierdoor wordt de slip onderbroken en is er weer volledige controle over het voertuig.

Automated MAN TipMatic gearshift system
The MAN TipMatic gearshift system automatically selects and engages the right gear, relieving the driver of this task. There is no clutch pedal. In automatic mode, the gears are selected automatically. If the driver wishes to correct a gearshift, the system remains in manual mode for 10 seconds, then returns to automatic. On difficult terrain, the driver switches to manual and selects the gears in advance. The gearshift itself is always automatic. The moving-off gear is selected either manually or according to the load, depending on the vehicle version and type of rotary control. Engines with power ratings of up to 480 hp can be combined with the direct drive version of the TipMatic gearbox. The TipMatic system improves vehicle economy through reduced fuel consumption, lower service costs and a payload increase of approx. 70 kg, when compared with a comparable manual gearbox. If required, the MAN TipMatic can be combined with the MAN EasyStart hill holder, which greatly facilitates moving off on hills and therefore makes this manoeuvre safer.

Passat Auto hold and electronic break fail. the ford is parked at the gates for some time, I arrive and security ask me to ask him what he is doing.. So i reverse, so i can get out of the car the brakes come on I go to get out of the car and it just shoots forward smashing the door off the wall, both my feet were out of the door so I couldnt put my foot on the brake. The button on the dash for the brakes would not turn on, finally got my leg in and manually stopped it.

MAN TipMatic Coach
The MAN TipMatic Coach gearshift system relieves the driver's workload through automatic gear selection and gear shifting. There is no clutch pedal. Gear selection is fully automated in automatic mode. In the event of individual shift corrections by the driver, the system remains in manual mode for 10 seconds and then switches back to automatic mode. The gearshift process is carried out automatically in all cases. The starting gear is selected automatically depending on the vehicle load. The exclusive manoeuvring mode allows particularly sensitive manoeuvring thanks to the extended clutch slipping point. This mode is available both for forward and reverse manoeuvring. The TipMatic Coach system improves vehicle operating efficiency thanks to lower fuel consumption and reduced maintenance costs compared with comparable manual gearboxes. The MAN TipMatic® automated gearshift system includes the MAN EasyStart hill holder, which makes it much easier to move off on uphill gradients and thus also makes this process much safer. When the system is active, the stationary vehicle is held to prevent it rolling backwards for up to 2 seconds after the brake pedal is released and if the parking brake is not applied - this is done by maintaining the brake pressure last applied via the brake pedal. The service brake is automatically released in the starting operation as soon as the required engine torque is available. This relieves the driver's workload and significantly increases safety.
