2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat: 707 Horsepower? Hell Yeah! – Ignition Ep. 116
On this episode of Ignition, presented by Universal Technical Institute, Carlos Lago drives the most powerful production muscle car on the market: The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. While it isn’t the most powerful production V-8 in the world (which loses to the $1 million McLaren P1 by 20 hp before electric motors), the Hellcat’s 707 hp rating seems too incredible to believe -- especially when you consider the cost. The question is whether this Challenger has any brain to go along with its extreme brawn. Through a trip to the Dyno, the test track, the road, and a standing mile, we find out. Ignition appears every other Monday on the Motor Trend youtube channel. http://www.youtube.com/motortrend Subscribe now to make sure you're in on all the action! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsAegdhiYLEoaFGuJFVrqFQ?sub_confirmation=1 Facebook - http://facebook.com/motortrendmag & https://www.facebook.com/mt.ignition Twitter - http://twitter.com/motortrend & https://twitter.com/mt_ignition Google+ - https://plus.google.com/+motortrend/posts Instagram - @mt_ignition Website - http://www.motortrend.com

► 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 on the Track
http://www.youcar.tv The 392-cubic inch (6.4-liter) HEMI® V-8 delivers 470 horsepower (351 kW) and 470 (637 N•m) lb.-ft. of torque. The torque band is extremely flat allowing for strong standing starts and improved straight-line performance throughout the rpm range. An advanced active intake manifold along with high-lift cam with phasing provides maximum low-end torque and high-end power while still delivering up to 23 miles per gallon on the highway with the standard manual transmission. Performance-tuned engine mounts improve idle stability and ride control at all speeds. Standard Fuel Saver Technology (four cylinder mode) in automatic transmission equipped models allows the engine to operate economically on four cylinders or use the power of all eight cylinders when needed. The EPA fuel economy miles per gallon (mpg) (City/Hwy) ratings for the 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 are 14/22 for automatic transmission models and 14/23 for manual-transmission models. A look under the hood reveals unique valve covers with painted silver ribs and the "392 HEMI" logo, which gives the engine a unique, clean and aggressive look. The 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 features a standard Tremec TR-6060 six-speed manual transmission and a dual-disc high performance clutch -- a proven performer that was first offered on the 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10®. The optional five-speed automatic transmission features new, standard steering wheel mounted paddle shifters that join the center console mounted Auto Stick, allowing for a choice of spirited shifting on both the road and the race track. Both methods give the driver the ability to manually select specific gears on the transmission. In "Drive," the transmission controller will automatically shift the vehicle. The aggressiveness of the shifting is defined by the mode chosen - either "Normal" or "Sport." Fully adaptive electronic control of all shifting makes the powertrain more responsive while minimizing harshness. In "Manual," the shift method is defined by the driver choosing to use either paddle shift or Auto Stick. The "Sport" mode adds a hold function to the calibration in all gears, allowing the driver full control of the shifting schedule.

First Ride: 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat 707 hp
The all-new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT, with its supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat engine, produces an unprecedented 707 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque, making it the most powerful Challenger ever, Dodge's most powerful V-8 ever and the most powerful muscle car ever. The Challenger's new 6.2-liter Supercharged Hellcat engine is also the first factory supercharged HEMI, as well as Dodge and SRT's first application of V-8 Supercharger technology. For the first time in Chrysler Group history, the all-new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT with a Hellcat engine comes standard with two key fobs -- red and black. The red key fob is the only key that can unlock the full 707 horsepower and torque potential of the Challenger SRT Hellcat engine; while the black key fob limits the driver to a reduced engine output of 500 horsepower. In addition to the awe-inspiring 707 horsepower of the new Hellcat HEMI, the new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has been redesigned and totally re-engineered to be the most true-to-form muscle coupe on the market with performance-enhancing technologies inside and out, including the new TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-new interior inspired by the classic 1971 Challenger. The Dodge and SRT brands now offer the most complete lineup of muscle cars in the market, including the new 2015 Dodge Challenger SXT with its standard powerful and fuel-efficient Pentastar V-6 engine combined with the TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission that delivers 300 horsepower and an estimated 30 miles per gallon; the 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T with the high-torque 5.7-liter HEMI now paired with the TorqueFlite eight-speed or six-speed manual transmission; and the all-new 6.4-liter HEMI Challenger Scat Pack that delivers 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque with the TorqueFlite eight-speed or six-speed manual. The 2015 Dodge Challenger and Challenger SRTs are built at the Brampton, Ontario, Assembly Plant and will start arriving in Dodge dealerships in the third quarter of 2014. The Challenger SRT Hellcat is available with a starting U.S. MSRP of $59,995 ► SUBSCRIBE NOW: http://urlz.fr/lEd ► WEBSITE: http://www.youcarnews.com ► FACEBOOK: http://www.facebook.com/youcarpress ► TWITTER: http://www.twitter.com/youcartv ► GOOGLE+: http://plus.google.com/+YouCarPress

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat (Manual) - WR TV POV Canyon Drive
Some days at work are better than others. Yearning for more seat time after our stint with the 707hp muscle car in Portland back in July, we happily accepted the red key at an event held where Kanan Road meets Mulholland Highway in the lovely hills of Malibu and headed out to the twisting stretches of picturesque road in this supercharged bruiser – here equipped with the Viper-derived six-speed manual transmission – with the Pacific Ocean as our backdrop. Some days, indeed. Unlike our street drive on the back roads around Portland, this time around the roads were virtually devoid of traffic, giving the Hellcat a chance to properly stretch its legs and allowing us to evaluate its 0-60 mph and 60-0 mph manners, along with its handling behaviors on the undulating pavement of Mulholland Highway and the demanding corners found throughout. http://www.windingroad.com/articles/reviews/wr-tv-2015-dodge-challenger-srt -hellcat-pov-canyon-drive/ 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Price: $59,995 (base), $65,265 Engine: 6.2-liter supercharged V8 Output: 707hp / 650lb-ft 0-60 mph: 3.5 seconds On Sale: August 2014 Read our thoughts on the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat here: http://www.windingroad.com/articles/reviews/driven-2015-dodge-challenger-sr t-hellcat/ Wear headphones!
