1970 Pontiac Lemans Sport
Just a quick video of me pulling my car out of the parking lot.. It's a
1970 Pontiac Lemans Sport with the original 350 engine, TH 350
transmission, and the original 10 bolt peg leg rear end. It has 81,000
original miles. It went through a frame off restoration recently in which
evrything was powder coated. It also sports a new paint job and a GTO hood.
It also has some not original stuff which includes a holley 600 cfm vacuum
secondary carburetor, edelbrock aluminum intake, and Pypes 2.5" stainless
steel x-pipes with low restriction mufflers. Unfortunately I'm missing the
rear Pontiac emblem on the trunk lid does anyone know where I can find one,
Ive tried year one and performance years but its not remade. The noise at
2:28 is because I hit the steering lock nothing serious. I didnt push on it
too hard because the powertrain is 40 years old and in really good shape
and I'd like it to last. This is not a trailer queen or a museum piece
thats never driven. I drive it as much as possible because its meant to be
enjoyed. If you like old muscle cars and would like to get into the hobby
the Lemans is still relatively inexpensive and can be dressed up to look
like a GTO. This car is my pride and joy and I hope to never sell it so
1971 PONTIAC GT - 37 -- BASICALLY A DRESSED UP PONTIAC TEMPEST
By the early seventies, insurance on muscle cars got too expensive and
producing muscle cars was cost heavy also. The Pontiac T-37 was a cheaper
version of a Pontiac Tempest. Then Pontiac division decided to build an
upgraded version of the T-37. Named the Pontiac GT-37 this model borrowed
GTO fender striping, hood-pins, and GT-37 badging making it stand out above
base Tempests in appearance. The new model turned out to be a stripped-down
muscle car. The fastest production car the Pontiac built in 1970 turned
out to be the Tempest two-door sedan with the Ram Air III engine. The GT-37
creation was an option that could be ordered on a T-37. This year of 1971
the Tempest line was dropped by Pontiac and styling revisions to '71 LeMans
included redesigned grilles. The lowest-priced Pontiac was again the T-37
coupe at $2,747. For 1971, engines available in GT-37s started with a
350-cid two-barrel V-8 that had a advertised 250 hp V-8 for $52.66 extra, a
four-barrel 400-cid 300-hp V-8 for $221.17 additional, a four barrel
455-cid 335-hp V8 for $279.10 extra and the four-barrel 455 HO with 335 hp,
which added $358.09 to the price of the GT-37 with a standard V-8. The 1971
GT-37s had a 5,802 unit production run, of which about 50 were 1971 ½
models with foil stripes. This was also the last year of production for
the GT-37. So, what you see here is a rare low production Pontiac muscle
car edition offered as another option to the muscle car crowd. Thanks very
much for viewing this 1971 Pontiac GT-37.
