RX8 With Straight Pipe and GReddy Cat-Back
Just thought I'd upload a quick vid I threw together the other day, nothing fancy. I just made it to try and illustrate the sound of a Mazda RX-8 with a straight-pipe (no cat) and GReddy Cat-Back Exhaust. I placed the camera on a small tripod about 3-4 feet away from the tailpipes to avoid audio distortion. Honestly, I think I'd like a much deeper and less raspy Exhaust note, maybe a Borla system. [EDIT] - Sorry for the slightly weird distortion effects at the beginning, that was the YouTube anti-shake feature. Panning smoothly with your hands after a Monster Energy is difficult. -Also, someone asked what the rims are; I mistakenly said they're 10" wide in the video, they're actually 9.5" wide, 18" Axis Halo rims. To see all the mods and plans for my RX-8, see my Car Domain page at: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/4051439/2007-mazda-rx-8-sport-coupe-2d/ I'm also on RX8Club.com as OtherSyde.
RX8 exhaust with no muffler or resonator
First was muffler removal. Then went ahead and removed the resonator that is right behind the catalytic converter. Note how the idle always settles back down into a distinguished noise, now that there is no resonator smearing the pulses. Keeping cat for emissions, and backpressure to open the last 2 of 6 ports. I'm waiting to post some higher rpm sounds, once engine #3 is broken in. This video is engine #2, I parked it for 2 years and only had a couple fillups. Unfortunately I'm on engine #3 now, never fully broke in engine #2 for higher rpm sound capture.
