1990 World Championship Road Race, part 3
Dirk dewolf is now off the front of the race with his team mate Rudy Dhaenens. Despite the efforts of the favorites, these two Belgians go one and two in the race. It would be a bitter sweet victory for Dhaenens as he would never again reach such heights as he did that day in Utsunomiya Japan. He retired from racing in 1992. In 1998 Rudy Dhaenens died in a car accident on the way to serve as a race commenter for the Tour of Flanders. He was only 37 years old.
