Here's some footage I got from my dash cam I was trying out for the first time (sorry, it's kind of blurry/rough). The video is of me lining up to race and catching some cool shots of the guys in front lining up and running the strip. Stephen from East Texas Muscle Cars is the first run in the video driving his YOU LOZ highly modded twin turbo 2005 Corvette. For more information on this vehicle visit http://tinyurl.com/6lmz4e9 We're not sure whether this is a Chevelle with a Corvette underneath, or a Corvette with a Chevelle on top, but you can call it the Corvelle. It's a stunning custom-built car that masterfully grafts a 1968 Chevelle convertible body to a fully functioning 2007 Corvette chassis, interior and all. The amount of engineering and fabrication that went into this build is absolutely mind-boggling, and the fact that the end result is so seamlessly integrated is a testament to the builder's skill. Prepare to be amazed. Starting with a real 1968 Chevelle convertible, the builder ultimately tossed about 85% of the car, retaining only the exterior sheetmetal, trim, and convertible top mechanism. Exacting measurements and a lot of fabrication, not to mention a happy coincidence in wheelbase length, means that this car fits together seamlessly, and it's hard to say where the Chevelle ends and the Corvette begins. Panel gaps are exact, which is no easy feat considering that the whole thing was hand-built, and it was block sanded until the surface was flawless. Two-stage blue pearl metallic paint is a cool twist on the LeMans Blue that was available on both the '68 Chevelle and the '07 Corvette. Whatever you want to call it, it's brilliant. As incredible as the body of this car is, the real magic is underneath. If this engine bay were in a stock 2007 Corvette, it would be a show-winner, but being encased in the Chevelle body makes it absolutely mind-blowing. All the original electronics, including the fuel injection, traction control, cruise control, and everything else that goes into a modern Corvette, have been retained. The blue carbon fiber trim pieces are expertly made, and again, the fact that these Corvette-based parts fit in the Chevelle body is a tribute to the builder's abilities. If you really want to blow someone's mind, take this thing to your local Chevy dealership and ask them to change the oil—it's no more difficult than a standard Corvette. The rest of the chassis is 100% Corvette as well, including the hydro-formed frame rails, the balsa wood floors, and all the running gear. The 6-speed manual transmission is mounted in back, as in all Corvettes, and the Z51-spec suspension is fully independent, complete with transverse fiberglass leaf springs. Long-tube headers feed a custom dual Exhaust system, which is the only significant deviation from OEM specification, but you could most likely bolt on a stock Corvette Exhaust system without difficulty. And, of course, the wheels are chrome plated 18- and 19-inch Corvette alloys wearing Corvette-spec Goodyear radials. If the integration of the chassis and body isn't amazing enough, have a look at the interior. Completely integrated, the Corvette's electronic dashboard has made the swap 100% intact and functional with no hanging wires or shortcuts. The center console is still there, too, and all the switchgear works like it should, the gauges still do their dance when the car is keyed up, and the stereo is loud and clear, thanks to the addition of a pair of speakers where the Chevelle's back seat used to be. Seats are Corvette charcoal leather buckets with "CORVELLE" embroidered on the headrests, and they retain their power adjustability and excellent driving position. And kudos to whomever modified the door panels—they seamlessly transition from the doors into the former rear seat area in an unbroken curve that looks completely OEM. I've been looking at this car for hours, and I still can't get over the fact that it is so seamlessly integrated. The blending of the two cars is so exceptionally well done that it fits together and drives like an OEM vehicle. Sure, it's quick, but the thrill of driving it is nothing compared to the thrill of showing it off—when you open that hood, prepared to be buried by questions from a very enthusiastic public. Better yet, it's easy to service with parts availability as near as your local Chevy dealer, and it's as reliable as a new car. Brilliantly executed and amazing in every regard, this one truly is a showstopper. Call today.
