This Regal is 1 of only 1575 T-Types built in '85. In the '80s, when the muscle car renaissance began, automakers rediscovered horsepower by using technology, not cubic inches. If you were paying attention to cars back then, you know that one of the undisputed horsepower kings of the mid-80s was the rear-wheel-drive Buick Regal with its turbocharged 3.8 liter V6. Eventually they evolved to the 1987 GNX, which was reputedly so wickedly powerful and fast that the FBI ordered the final 300 that rolled off the assembly line. Whether this is true or not is the cause of much speculation, but there's no denying the cars were brutally fast and responded well to small modifications. Even today, Grand National Buicks are tearing up drag strips all across the country and there's a thriving aftermarket dedicated to the restoration and modification of these really cool cars. This '85 Regal T-Type is in great condition. The T-Type was not a Grand National, although it features the same hardware under the skin. While the Grand National was completely monochromatic, the T-Types retained the Regals chrome bumpers and grille and featured a slightly different interior. The panels are straight with no signs of damage or rust. The black paint is very nice and the chrome bumpers on this car are in excellent condition without a ding or parking lot dent anywhere. The V6 turbocharged 3.8 litre has only 80,410 miles on it, and is 100% stock. Look at the pictures and you can see how well-maintained this T-Type is. Everything is in top-flight condition. There's not any additional flash under there, but it is factory original and correct, which is probably a lot more important on a relatively rare car like this one. The hot turbo motor is backed by GM's ultra-reliable 4-speed automatic. This Buick offers great off-the-line go and impressive high-speed cruising abilities. Sitting at all four corners are a set of Grand National rims and nicely treaded tires. Inside, the all original interior is more luxury than sport. As a Buick, this T-Type is loaded with all the features you'd expect: power windows, power locks, climate control, an aftermarket stereo system with MP3 player, tilt wheel, and power front seats. All of the interior lights work. The upholstery is a bit faded, but aside from that, is in great condition. The seats are comfortable for long stretches and again, they are what the factory was putting out in 1985. The trunk has a car cover and spare, and it's just as nice as the rest of the interior. Documentation includes the body build sheet found on the underside of the trunk. Everybody knows about the legendary Grand National Buicks, and nobody scoffs at them. They're incredibly easy to modify to outrageous power levels and highly collectable, even today. The T-Types are arguably rarer and certainly more unique with their slightly more luxury-oriented mission. This T-Type is an incredible bargain, and you can almost bet on the fact that these cars will only become more valuable in the coming years. Pick this one up and enjoy it while it appreciates! This is a quick run down of my 1986 Buick Regal T-Type WH1 Designer Series car. I omitted that that the silver paint is cracked and needs to be repainted and that I also needed to add the #7 lower body bushing. I plan to have it on the road in the next year or two. It currently has just over 80k miles.

My 87' buick grandnational lives again,(please read below)12-31-09,Orlando,FL,USA..Brand new GN1 Stroker motor..This time " I " did all the work!! vs paying for blown-up motors from KDK Performance an/or Lamotta Performance,both in FL an supossed speacilist...8^/....If your cars at either of these shops above in Florida,i feel for you!!!.. Update! July 27th 2010 The ROH drift wheels an Falken autocross tires are on,Aerospace disk brakes all around,TRZ tubular control a-arms front an upper in the back..Cars Very close to the GNX conversion an Brand New Paint!! The Story of this car.. Brought out storage,in year 2000 had 2 differant motor builds both whipe the camshafts,little known to people back then was the camshaft manufactors fault ,the cams metal was flawed 2000.. the car goes to Bowling Green Custums in Alt GA, He has it 4 years, charges me $14,000 for Yeap,straight from his shop a Whiped camshaft!!! 2005.. Car goes to KDK Performance in FL gone billit rollor cam $8000 rebuild,car blows up 1/2 track at 110mph 3 total rebilds all i payed for,Dynoed an to the track same thing, 1/2 track garnade First Run !! 4th new motor bought an payed for, i pull car out KDK spend over $30,000 in cash an parts totaling over 3 years 2008.. I call Cal Hartline,He recommeds Lamotta performance The new motor from KDK goes striaght on the Dyno an BOOM!! headgasket launches as all the times before I asked if Lamotta can fix it, an add GNX style dash an new Intercooler,6 months later motors done at Heartbeat racing engines,Even though Lamottoa dropped my motor to him for whatever reason i had to go pick it up.(that cost the tranny in my truck!)After Lamotta installs the motor an fires it,I called Jake an he said i quote "Its fine, ready to go"..I pick it up, Its belowing white smoke out the exshuast,water temps high, oil pressuers all over the place!!!,,the dash speedo don't work, (the whole reason i had the GNX dash kit Installed!!) an the grill ,Lamotta broke the headerpanel flap so my Grill dangles in place,had to buy whole new pannel,won't mention them storing my car under a car on lift that leaked fuild $13,000 in total back to square one Piston pin was riding up an down the #4 cylinder wall 2009.. Car stays in My Garage.. Dave at Heartbeat racing engines rebuilt an sleves the damage piston pin cylinder an i have him add GN1 stroker kit..The Motors now perfect an i have over 2000miles on it Today July 27th 2010 the cars at ProFab in Tampa having Matt inspected the suspenion along with the brakes,Possiably adding a 6 point roll cage...8^) Moral to this build,Try your Hardest to Have one All-in-One shop work on your car,Or you'll get the Third person run around,(example), Oh i'll take your car an your money,but its the machist fault or part builders fault why nothing works,pay us, blame them... First time you here that....Run!!! Get all work in Writing,You might need it later

From my video archives, a very short video of my Buick in action. This is my 1986 Buick Regal T-Type WH1, one of 468 made that year and the last year of the designer cars. Taken back in probably 2002, I was playing with the waste gate, trying to find the right spot between Boosting and getting her to spool the turbo. Fan is running because the Jay Carter 93 Octaine chip makes it run any speed under 55 for cooling. You can barely hear the turbo spool. I do have other videos of this car on my channel...enjoy. (my lame sideburns included...shot by my dad)

In today's video, we will take an up close and personal in depth look at the understated muscle car of the late 80s, the Buick Grand National, this one specifically the Regal T-Type. The GN and the T-Type are identical except for badging and interior trim. It wasn't until you stepped it on up to the GNX did you get the truly different package (which I will explain in the video). The GN is arguably the most menacing looking buick of all time with it's black monochrome paint scheme and turbo charged 3.8 V6 pumping out amazing performance numbers for the time period, even today! A unique experience to be able to check out one of these beasts. During this presentation, we will take a 1st person look at what the vehicle is all about beginning with the start up, performance data, fuel economy, the occasional track data, and build quality.
