SO, WHAT MAKES THIS T-BIRD DIFFERENT THAN OTHERS FROM 1962? WELL FOR ONE THING, IT WAS THE MOST EXPENSIVE AT $5,439. ANOTHER FACTOR WAS THAT IT HAD THE MORE POWERFUL ENGINE, A V-8 390 CID THAT PRODUCED 340 BHP. THE MOST NOTICEABLE FEATURE IS THE FIBERGLASS TONNEAU COVER THAT STRETCHED BEHIND THE FRONT SEATS AND BLENDED TO THE REAR TRUNK AREA. DRESSING THIS CAR TO THE NINES INCLUDED 5 KELSEY-HAYES WIRE WHEELS WITH KNOCK-OFF SPINNERS. ALL OF THIS AND THE FACT THAT JUST OVER 1,400 WERE MADE, ANSWERS THE QUESTION ABOUT WHAT MAKES THIS SPORT ROADSTER SO SPECIAL. HOWEVER, MANY REPLICAS HAVE FLOODED THE MARKET EVER SINCE. This was filmed Saturday June 5, 2010 at the Fleetwood Country Cruize in London, Ontario
Here is a show room perfect example of a 1962 Ford Thunderbird, the styling of this Thunderbird would have to be my second favorite generation of the Thunderbird, of course my favorite Thunderbird generation was the '55-'57, but this '62 sure has some nice lines and style, and the rocket Exhaust taillights are a nice design touch that was common place on Ford's of the time, but the 390 under the hood would sure get this T-bird moving pretty good, and i would say the '61-'63 Thunderbird generation succeed more in being a Sleek performance luxury vehicle than the '58-'60 Thunderbird's did, and i would say the '61-'63's sure had some great sleek styling to them and that gave them some grace, after this point the Thunderbird would grow larger and become more luxury orientated,
also on a special note, take notice of the front California license plate, not sure the significance of this, but maybe the owner or the car are originally from California, but the rear plate identifies this car as a Ontario owned and operated vehicle, so i would think that maybe the car came from California, also did you notice the steering wheel looked kinda bent? well that's the swing away feature, it allows the driver to enter and exit the drivers seat more easily,
overall a great example, and for some reason these cars look really great in white, anyways i hope you enjoyed this video,
